China 8 — Restaurant in Brookneal

Great food. Probably best I’ve had in Lynchburg and surrounding area. Combination plate was fresh, hot, delicious. Generous portions. I had spicy beef. Table needed to be wiped down and had to ask but they were slammed - 2 young brothers busting their butts. Ordered additional takeout - Hot and Sour soup, fried wontons, egg rolls. If dine in was an indication it probably will be equally great. Total cost for everything was $31. Real bargain. People coming in every 5 minutes to pickup. Do yourself a favor and make the drive. Wow google reviews got this one wrong. I travel a lot, tried lots of Chinese restaurants I was looking forward trying this place after seeing all the good reviews and I can honestly say I am so disappointed. They don’t do lunch specials on the weekend so we settled on the dinner combo of general tso chicken- which had no flavor and was mostly breading. The fried rice was decent but was way too greasy. The egg roll had a nice crunch but was also greasy on the inside . We also got chicken lo mein it was ok but again swimming in grease. China 8 is #1 on our favorite local restaurant list and we have been regulars there for years. Outstanding food that is always delicious, fresh, hot and well prepared. Equally outstanding is the customer service and they truly go above and beyond. We were struggling to find safe food options after an AlphaGal diagnosis in our family and were thrilled when a friend let us know that there were some great (and safe) options here, giving us our “date night” back! 🙂 I cannot say enough good things about these folks!
