We stopped in here after visiting Mammoth Cave (20 mins away), while on a cross- country trip en route to St. Louis.
The food in this place is totally authentic Mexican. A couple of us in my family love chorizo, which was perfectly flavored (had street tacos w/ onions & cilantro) and I asked for tacos chorizo con huevos (not in the menu) and they did it for me! The enchiladas were delicious, carne asada, the beans, and even the rice was super flavorful.
On service, that was the BEST part! The waitress got our initial WARM chips and salsa (homemade salsa is delicious) and drinks. When I was almost done with my water, another full glass was automatically brought without me asking. When we finished scarfing down our 2 baskets of chips, 2 new WARM fresh baskets were brought without us needing to ask, with more salsa.
The owner was very kind and went around to each table making sure everyone was enjoying their meal, in a very genuine way. I told him this is the best restaurant in Kentucky. Other restaurants can learn from their service standards. The building is nothing special, but the food and people inside are the best thing in this area!
I never expected Kentucky to have such delicious and authentic...

One of my boys tried Richard's tacos with grilled steak and they were quite tasty. My wife tried the tortilla soup and enjoyed it as well. The other kids all had nachos, which were topped with queso instead of shredded cheese, which most of the kids liked except one. He just ate chips with my side of beans and was good to go! Very friendly staff and talked with the owner on our way out. Great little hometown place right on the highway! Which, by the way, google maps has it at least a mile southeast of the actual location, so keep going northwest on the highway just past the bridge and...
Read moreThis was the closest restaurant to our air Bnb near mammoth cave park- it was getting pretty late so we decided to go to the nearest restaurant and Mexican food sounded good. We were certainly impressed, excellent service right out of the gate. The chips and salsa were amazing. We ordered bean dip which came as cheesy bean dip and was also amazing. Then in no time at all, our dinner plates arrived and they were absolutely spectacular. $32 for two of us was extremely fair. *This is a dry county so there is no margarita/beer available, but we stuck with water since we knew we were hiking all day on top of a cave tour. Highly recommend! Drive to the little “downtown” area was just...
