The brisket is a cross between beef jerky and balogna! I've NEVER in my life had ends that were tough enough to be used for dental floss. That's not the worst of it, the ribs were CRISPY!!!! My husband's smoked turkey was cold and the sausage tasted store bought. Our new potatoes were obviously microwaved and the fries were a mixture of new fries and fries that were God knows how old! I don't even want to get started on the squash casserole which had so much bland breading, that it washed out any flavor of squash. To be fair, my husband and I judge ribs and brisket annually in Goldthwaite. I've only given out a few 2's and one 1. This brisket is a 2 and the ribs a 1. On the bright side, the man behind the counter asked if everything was okay and I replied, "No, we're giving this to the dogs." He asked if he could fix it, but I was in NO MOOD for any of that food from there! Service was good, place is clean, but the BBQ is...
Read morePreviously eaten here many many times, last year the food wasn't so bad, this year, every time we are here, it wasn't good. This is a summary of our experience:
Seen the reviews about the brisket, so we got a chopped BBQ sandwich and a sausage wrap, both with side of beans. The BBQ in the sandwich feels like someone dumbed chopped brisket into a vat of sauce. Sauce is all you taste in the sandwich.
Sausage was alright, but pretty dry.
Beans were hard. They weren't bland, but last year they weren't hard. They need to soak them more.
Earlier got a baked potato with chopped brisket and condiments. Main gripe was the potato. It was really dry and by the time you "dress" it out, it was cold. Had to pour a lot of bbq sauce just so it wouldn't be so dry.
Last year and years before this was a really good place to eat. This year, something went downhill and every time we eat here, it's always...

When you walk in you can smell the aroma of smoked meat, it makes the mouth water. So, if you are in the mood for brisket, sausage, a hamburger, or any kind of Texas BBQ, head here. They have Reubens that are made with sausage or brisket, or both. They have meat plates, sandwiches, potatoes, bacon-wrapped jalapenos, and more.
I love their fries and their house made BBQ sauce. But, one of the specialties here is squash casserole. Even as a person who doesn't eat much squash, I like this dish. If you want to try it, you better make sure you get there early because they will probably run out. It's a fan fave. You can also order desserts or catering here too. They helped me with an event and it was perfect. They were a great help. They have sheet cakes and hummingbird cakes that...
