It will be awhile before I come back to Marshside do to my most recent experience with them. I brought a friend here for an early dinner in June 2, 2023 . We arrived at approximately 4:15 in the afternoon and requested to sit on the outside deck . Host stated it would be about a 15 minute wait . No problem . The hostess seated us on the outside deck and took our drink orders ( 2 sweet teas ). While we were sitting there drinking our teas, the condensation from the glasses was running off the glasses and making small puddles on our table and there were no napkins on our table to wipe it up except the napkin our silverware was wrapped in. Our waitress had not checked on us in awhile , so I got up and walked over to extra supply table to get some extra napkins . About that time , our waitress walked out on the deck and started very rudely complaining to the other guests on the deck that I had not picked up the napkins that blew out of the supply basket and were blowing around the deck ( I didn't see them as I had my back turned or I would have ). Our waitress stated, " She didn't even bother to pick them up ! " . She then came over to our table to refill our teas and I apologized to her and told her it wasn't a big deal ; I didn't mind . She then stated , Yes , it was ! " I would've brought you extra napkins WAY BEFORE your food order was ready !" . I didn't want them for my food. I wanted them for the condensation off our cups. She then stated to everyone on the deck , " I don't have a problem telling people about themselves !" The only reason we didn't get up and leave was because one , we didn't want to cause a scene and two, we had already placed our food order . I can't tell you the servers name as she had no name tag on and my friend paid for dinner so I didn't see the receipt . She was a short , chunky woman with glasses and light brown hair. On a side note , I usually bring out of town guests and company here as up until this incident , I have never had any problems with service here . I tried calling the restaurant when I got home to speak with the manager but the phone is never answered and there is no way to leave a voicemail for a return call . It will definitely be awhile before I walk back into...
Read moreMy family were in this area for one evening and were really hoping to have some good seafood - in particular some good Georgia shrimp. We also hoped to find a place on the water. After a search this was one of the restaurants that looked like we could have both of those things. It turned out to be absolutely disappointing as far as the food goes. After asking some questions of our server about our best options, my daughter and I decided to share a shrimp platter. My grandson went for the child's shrimp dinner. Well first, the child's $8 platter had 18 shrimp on it and our $21 platter had 16 shrimp. Well you could maybe think that the child's plate had some small shrimp but no, both of the platters had the same sized shrimp. To be sure, I took pictures of each against the same fork to verify. The adult platter shrimp had tails and the child's did not. The child's shrimp were not too bad but the shrimp on the adult platter were hard as rocks and rubbery like they had been sitting since yesterday - honestly. The hush puppies were as hard as rocks. I could have broken the window if I had tossed it. The baked potato was small. We couldn't and didn't eat the shrimp. I really don't like to complain and my daughter really would rather pay for a bad meal and forget about it. I might tend to do that too if the meal was $10 but not for $22. Well I decided to ask the waitress to remove the adult platter from our bill. She went to the manager and the manager took half off. In hindsight I should have spoken directly with the manager since the waitress has no power in any of our issues. Taking half off our platter was not sufficient. I told the waitress that but she just shrugged because there was nothing else she could do. The manager should have come over to talk to us; I should have insisted on talking to them. My only recourse is to let others know it is not the place to eat if you are looking for...
Read moreGreat find pretty much in the middle of nowhere. Didn't look like much from the outside. We had to wait about 20 minutes as we got there around 1 o'clock. Apparently it gets very busy at noon. We had been in a car for about two hours, so we didn't mind standing around waiting... there are some benches to wait on which is nice but if you have been in the car for any distance of time, it feels good to stand up we opted to sit at the first available, which put us on the inside, there are outside eating areas by the River, but we would've had to wait a longer time for one of those tables. They didn't have a lot of outside seating, but during different times of the year, they probably would be very nice to sit there. The reason I gave this five stars was because of the food. The atmosphere was OK very dark and felt like a Jolly Rogers. But the food was stupendous. I ordered a shrimp tacos and they came on good sized tortillas. On the bottom of the taco was a coleslaw mixture that had horseradish in it, and the shrimp was fried, and there were so many shrimp. I had to eat a few off just to take a bite of the taco ha ha. That is not a complaint that is a compliment, lol. The combination of the coleslaw flavor and the shrimp flavor, and the batter was so good! I ordered the spuds and they were these thick slices of fried potatoes. That were very good although a little bit greasy for my taste. My husband ordered the seafood platter and he got fish and shrimp and the spuds. There was a lot of food. It was very good and the prices were good, our waitress was very cute...
