I want to like this place. We've eaten there about once every month or two for the last two years and I can tell you about 6-8mo ago things changed. Not sure if it was managerial, turnover of the kitchen staff, or combo of the two.
The food there, albeit pub food, has suffered both in quality and serving sizes. Their salads, some of them go for $14, are poorly and inconsistently made using bagged salad greens, meager toppings and barely enough dressing. Not worth the price.
Burger and sandwiches are average size and they upcharge for everything that's not covered by the menu--including adding a slice of cheese ($0.75), and substituting sweet potato fries instead of regular ($2). You get a handful of fries, pulled out of a different bag from their freezer, and deep fried just like the regular ones. $2 extra. Not understanding the price difference, it just seems like a straight-up shanking.
Desserts are also now going for premium prices, $6 for a slice of pie, $7-$8 for cheesecake, and they've gotten smaller. 30% reduction IMO.
For two meager burger or salad dinners, soft drinks, and two desserts you'll easily shell out $50.
We're at a point of not returning. Hope they get their...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreWe stopped in as a group of 10 hot, travel weary people. There was room for us all comfortably and the server was more than welcoming. Most of our group ordered burgers, and they took a while to come out. I was feeling like grumbling about it until they arrived, and then I quickly forgot. The burgers here are made from scratch, cooked over charcoal flame, juicy, flavorful and will fill up a very hungry person. It's immediately apparent why they took longer to come out, and they were worth waiting for. I ordered mine medium rare and my companion ordered theirs medium well, and both arrived cooked to order on buttered buns. The French fries were very good, but you might be better served to save space in your belly to try and finish your burger. The club sandwich and the ribs received thumbs up from our group as well, but the burgers were the winner. The server kept the beers and sodas filled and had great patience with all of our separate checks and out-of-state IDs . Only after we left did we notice that we'd stayed nearly 40 minutes past closing time, and the staff never rushed us. If I ever feel able to eat again before I leave town, I'll go get another mushroom bacon burger and...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI really liked where this restaurant is situated. A nice deck seating area next to a pond. Perhaps if I had been out there it would make up for the service. Waitress was quick initially, the appetizer came out very quickly and we got our drinks. It went down hill from there. We put our food order in and waited a long while for it. Watched people that came in after us get their food first. I asked for a drink refill after waiting awhile and not getting checked on by the waitress, was acknowledged and then had to ask another waitress after waiting another 5 minutes. The food was good, but I felt it was priced oddly. I had a prime rib shaved ciabatta, which was delicious, but the sandwich was small compared to my wife's 1/2 lb prime rib burger and hers cost less than mine. The waitress asked my 10 yr old son if he wanted fries with his (as if it came with it) to find out it wasn't and I was charged $5 for a side of fries. Our food also did not come out at the same time. I want to say more good, but sadly I don't have much other than the...
