Blue Ridge Deli — Restaurant in Buena Vista

My wife and I took our 5 year old to the drive thru safari and were hungry afterward. We searched for a nearby deli and found the blue ridge deli just a few miles away.

I picked up a Chicken bacon ranch sub and an Italian sub, got some drinks from the cooler and was in and out in about 10 minutes. The folks behind the counter and the manager were all friendly and welcoming but not super chatty (in a good way).

The subs were huge, incredibly fresh, bursting with taste, and were ONLY $10 each!!! The cheddar tasted like it was legit aged cheddar from a gourmet cheese shop. The bacon wasn’t the usual fatty half-cooked/charred shards you get at chains. The tomato, lettuce and red onion tasted like they came from a farmers market. The sliced meats on both sandwiches were top notch.

I wish we lived a lot closer so we could try the other subs they have on the menu. More reason to head back out to the other attractions in Natural Bridge, I guess. We will definitely be back for more!

Maybe hang up a poster or two and play some music to give the shop a little personality, but either way I nominate you all for sub shop...

Ok, this restaurant started off really strong. I was having really high hopes for them bc they are a small locally owned RBC business. They never have any of the things they said they would have. No more daily specials. I used to look forward to the BBQ and the meatball subs. But they hardly ever have them. They then went to only having the BBQ in certain days. Sunday & Thursday and they were closed on July 4th, and I'm glad they were bc they deserve to celebrate with everyone else. But my question is where's the BBQ, why couldn't you just transfer yesterdays special into today, It would make sense. but when I've showed up the last couple of those day they didn't have it at all but then said well we have hamburgers. Which I'm sure are very delicious. But no way, I have made that drive to their business twice 45 mins both ways and nothing. It's a huge waste of my time. I'm really hoping they improve this. If not I don't see this business lasting very long at all, bc they don't stand on...

Amazing! After a morning of kayaking on the river we stopped in for much needed lunch. We’d heard great things and were excited to give it a try. First off, the customer service was outstanding. We were greeted warmly when we entered and the young woman behind the register went over the specials with us. We ordered a few subs and while we were waiting we chatted with one of the owners. We learned that this local restaurant is owned and operated by local Rockbridge folk. They were honored to occupy the space of the former Milk Bar and aim to build something just as special. Our subs were quickly made and they were so fresh and delicious, the perfect thing to eat after a day on the water.
