We live down the road in Oakwood, we have been here multiple times. We have never had any issues, but tonight was HORRIBLE. The only reason this is a 3 star review and 1 star is because of past experiences. Also, the food is always Phenomenal and the kitchen is quick. However, tonight started with us unable to find a host. So, with staffing issues everywhere we assumed we could sit ourselves. A while later, a young lady came to us saying “did y’all want to eat?” then brought us soaking wet menus. We had Jessica as our server. We sat not greeted for 15+ minutes. After we did get greeted we waited quite sometime for drinks. Our appetizer came out before our drinks. I personally ordered a fizzy berry, a signature cocktail at the Twisted Oar (which is usually yummy), but it take the entire stay to get it. I did not receive my drink until my boyfriend has finished 50% of his food. I could see it dying on the service station, but I didn’t want to go get myself. Eventually, another young lady brought it to me, but it was extremely watered down. Most of the time we could see Jessica watching the Michigan football game. I understand we all want to enjoy our favorite teams, but you have guests. That should have been the top priority and it was VERY clearly not.

I couldn’t give this place my money. I came with a group of 10—totally understood there might be a wait, and I assumed around an hour. The host told us about 30 minutes, took my name and number, and said I’d get a message when the table was ready. So far, so good. About 35 minutes later, my name disappeared from the waitlist without any message. I assumed it was ready, so I went to the host stand. She informed me they accidentally gave our table to another party. I laughed it off and asked what we should do next—she put us back on the list. Another 25 minutes went by and again, our name disappeared from the list. I walked up with my group and was told the table still wasn’t ready, and it would be another 30 minutes or so. Here’s the thing: if I’d been told up front that the wait could be 2+ hours, we would have happily gone somewhere else—no hard feelings. But being told 30-minute increments, only to be removed from the list and strung along, felt frustrating and honestly disrespectful of our time. The staff here clearly lacks leadership. This place desperately needs a competent manager to weed out the disorganized and careless behavior. Judging by other reviews I’ve read since, it seems my experience isn’t unique.

We came for the first time around 1pm on a Thursday and was surprised to see how busy they were. Drinks were good but slow at coming out. There was a separate drink menu that I happened to notice online and asked the server about besides the few items listed on the menu. There is also a beer menu. Server was friendly and didn’t rush us to order and allowed us to enjoy our cocktails. The grouper fingers are a bit small to be considered a “shareable” and pricey for the amount. They were delicious though. The fish and chips were also great but we think someone double seasoned the onion straws cause they very salty. The peanut pie is good but seems store bought. The funnel cake fries were amazing. Lots of seating~covered & uncovered with lots of big screen TVs. Bathrooms nice & clean. Lots of ducks in the area & the patio is dog friendly

Horrible! After seating ourselves being ignored for about 40 mins after we ordered I got an excuse that the reason we hadn't gotten drinks or even a cup of ice for my one year olds juice was the register was down. Strangely this only affected my family because everyone around (who happened to be not of color) was being waited on very quickly. After saying something to my waitress with the black hair and piercing in her face 3-4 times I finally went to the bar and asked another waitress who seemed confused about a "down register". She got me the cup of ice in a Styrofoam cup that was beat up as if I wanted to give that to my son. My husband who already was out the door with our child was livid about the service. Instead of causing a scene we left and called to speak to the manager who only offered to serve us herself and said the young lady was probably busy. She offered nothing more for the inconvenience or the unfairness that was displayed. We were out there with groups of people who were on their way to meet us there of all races but once they heard this we relocated immediately. We love to eat out and tip very generously but I WOULDN'T give this place a penny. Like my husband said if she didnt want to wait on us she couldve just sent someone else over or in 2016 just say it. A place that displays racism or supports it will never get any business from me or my family. Especially when its displayed in front of my son. We always have fun at lake lanier and the other restaurants they offer. I don't recommend this place .And to think we got along with the other customers so well.. Now only if the staff will display the same...

Would give zero stars for this experience if I could.

Our family has been going here for years. Yesterday was the worst we have been treated at at a restaurant period. There was a long wait, and let me be clear, we were fine with that. Our table is called and I walk up to the hostess stand (pregnant and carrying a 2 year old) to be told “you were called on accident. Have a seat it will be 15 min.” Frustrating, as it’s much more comfortable to be waiting on the boat, especially with a toddler. But, things happen. We sit, and sit, and sit. We watch friends of the host and wait staff get sat. We watch people come up yelling and saying they had been waiting for 2 hours (so had we). And then, most infuriating, we watch a party of 6 that walked up and added their name 20 mins prior get sat in front of us. They had congregated around the host stand and apparently chit chat is the way to get sat at the Oar. At that point, soaked, pregnant and wrangling a toddler (more than 30 min beyond our second quoted- just give 15 min) we left. Get it together Twisted Oar!!! Management is joke when they are the ones contributing to the “seat your friends first and paying customers later!”

Highly encourage you to spend your hard earned money elsewhere. We certainly did. In fact, right down the street was an incredible...

Stopped in after the Atlanta boat show this evening around 6 for a bite & drinks. There was gaggle of older teens & young 20 something’s congregating in the isle along the bar on the way to the bathroom; blocking its entry. To say they were loud is an understatement. They were screaming with one another & chasing each other around the bar like it was an outside playground. I’ve been to amusement parks that weren’t near as loud. They were all also clearly inebriated (hope someone checked IDs). One of them was the daughter of one of the waitstaff. The manager (young, dark hair & large glasses) obviously knew them because she was doing shots with them & only serving that party. She also clearly had no problem with the chaos these people we causing because she was just as loud. The remainder of the restaurant was served by the other bar tender. We love local vibrant bar atmosphere establishments but we won’t be back there anytime soon. We each choked down our food & almost finished one beverage before we ran out of there. I can’t imagine anyone would want to eat a meal or have a couple drinks with kids screaming at the top of their lungs running around behind you. Hard pass.

Response to owner: screaming teenagers in a family bar/restaurant are not in...
