We found this location via Google search and saw that there was accessible parking and an accessible entrance. We called ahead to verify that they were accessible inside and the woman who answered the phone stated that they were. However, she stated there was a step in the parking lot which we couldn’t see via Google maps. We decided to give it a go by checking the parking lot out and it was more than wheelchair accessible. Since the woman who answered the phone stated the interior was completely accessible with an accessible restroom we figured we’d be ok. We strolled in and the hostess (around 50-60 years old, wearing a salmon color pink button up top, with a short blonde bob) instantly had an attitude with the fact I am using a manual wheelchair. This was exhibited by stating there was absolutely no low top tables available. When I replied that under the 2010 ADA Design Standards that at least 5% of tables should be 28” -34”, she automatically got huffy and stated that there the restaurant has that. Additionally, I added that perhaps the restaurant needs to adjust their seating guidelines by seating in the high top tables first and leave open the 5% of low top tables for wheelchair users who can’t transfer. She didn’t let me finish my sentence and interjected “do you want me to get my manager.” I calmly stated that I wasn’t asking for your manager but rather stating the law and best practices to accommodate all guests. My friend asked if she could just ask the non-wheelchair users at the low table if they would be willing to sit at a table I physically couldn’t. The hostess quickly stated “she couldn’t let her do that.” Which, felt odd to me that she’s trying to control who we communicate with. I didn’t realize a hostess had such powers. She left for a minute and my friend chatted with the table and they immediately were understanding of the situation. Once she came back she took my friends number to be on the wait list for a table, when the waitress came up to her and stated that her table wanted to give their table up for us to enjoy our lunch. The hostess quickly snapped back that she couldn’t allow them to do that, and the waitress looked baffled. The party ended up insisting that they were moved and the hostess was forced to comply and made her anger known by telling me where the chair must sit… and referred to me as a chair, and not a person. She also seated us at the furthest table away from where we were located because the party gave up 2 tables that were put together. The waitress was very kind, attentive, and we loved her. Before I left, I had to use the “completely accessible restroom.” It was definitely not completely accessible and I would challenge the owner to get a manual wheelchair and try to access the accessible stall and open the door independently and wash your hands. Additionally, it would be great if the staff didn’t default to use the accessible stall first while the others were open, which is frowned upon by many disabled people with access needs. Overall, I would give the customers of this establishment 5 stars and the waitress 5 stars but everything else has room for improvements. I definitely...
Read moreI have frequented the Rachel's roadhouse on route 19 in Mercer county for years as well as the iron bridge, long cabin, and Springfield grille and have always been and I mean ALWAYS been pleased with not only our food but also the atmosphere and service. Boy oh boy was I in for a shock. We got to this location at 5pm on a Wednesday and were seated quickly. We were informed by the hostess that sat us that she would also be our waitress and she took our drink orders immediately and we put in an appetizer of potato skins at that time as well. We ordered out main dishes at 515 PM and our potato skins came out at about 520. This is where it goes downhill. My fiance says to me "do you have siverware" I did not and neither did she. No silverware means no napkins as well which isn't exactly the best when eating potato skins. At 545 they bring out my fiance's French onion soup and we are thinking the meal should follow quickly after (by this time we had been done with our potato skins for 10 minutes or so. At 615 the waitress comes out and asks to refill our drinks by this time we have been here for an hour and 15 minutes at 630 we have still not received our meals. I explain to the waitress that we have to pick up our 2 year old by 7 15 in slippery rock and that she would need to bring to go containers with our meals as well as the bill because an hour and a half to receive our meals just isn't a feasible amount of time to wait for a meal. 10 minutes later our food finally arrives we pack it at the table pay and still left a 15 percent tip not 20 or more as usual because our service was terrible. When we finally got home my chicken tiffany was severely overcooked and my fiance's lobster shrimp cakes had shells all through them. I am so let down by this experience and will not recommend to...
Read moreI had high hopes for Rachel's Roadhouse, but alas it turned out to be quite average, especially in terms of service.
Rachel's Roadhouse is in Butler, PA, and is larger inside than what it appears from the outside. We were seated fairly promptly (Saturday afternoon about 12:45pm). The waitress was pleasant and came over shortly after we were seated, but messed up the drink order. Okay, no big deal, it happens. Once that was straightened out, we ordered our lunches. The menu choices were varied without being overwhelming, so that was good. I ordered the grilled chicken salad.
The meal took a bit of time in coming..the rest of our party ordered sandwiches (two Rachel's and a Reuben), so I wouldn't have thought it took as long as it did. The mix-ups continued, as they brought two Reubens and a Rachel, instead of the other way around. My salad appeared correct, or so I thought. I began eating, and soon realized that the salad was certainly uncontaminated by grilled chicken. At this point, I decided not to make a fuss and send it back, because I was hungry.
The salad was good tasting, but it was sans chicken.
Overall, I'd like to give it another shot to see if they get it right... anyone can have a bad day, but it seemed that both the waitress and kitchen staff were having bad days while I was there....
