It would be easy to want to gatekeep this place- it’s really magical. There are fresh rotating juices, soups and salads made from local ingredients to go, gluten free and vegan options, green tea from Yunnan Province, and for the lactose down bad they make hazelnut milk in-house. The atmosphere is antique garden witch (there is at least one very sweet cat with extra toe beans outside, which is a plus). There’s a large, family-style long table to sit at if you’d like. I had a chai and an egg and sausage sandwich on homemade gf sourdough- the bread was warm and soft, the eggs were light and fluffy. The chai wasn’t too sweet and was delightfully spicy and complex. The apothecary is ever growing and plentiful, the food is well priced for its quality and the vibe is extremely calming. They also have other products for sale over the counter aside from take-home foods- like local art, earrings, soap, fancy apple cider vinegar, etc. Love it in here, so happy to have an apothecary close by

Rooted Heart was so nourishing from the atmosphere to the food I really enjoyed every moment of being here. A must try! And make it a regular place you go because it’s about community building too! I went for a coffee and I left with dried Calendula, Tallow for skin, chamomile, all fresh picked and locally sourced! The granola and swallowtail farm yogurt were to die for, and I got the breakfast sandwich too. So yummy. Bring your friends. 10/10

I tried Rooted Heart Cafe with my Fiancée for the first time. Met the owner, she was super nice and the food & coffee were great. Was driving by today to go to Dunkin and passed this place, remembered how good and healthy it was and pulled a U-Turn and came here. Met different staff from last time but they were equally as hospitable as the owners and I had a great experience and a better, healthier alternative.

I have a lot to say here, and in all honesty I am the neighbor so lets just get that off the table and before assuming I am buttering this review up because of being the neighbor & please hear me out me out!... I have seen all the behind the scenes and it can ONLY take the people who run this cafe to do what they are doing because of their insane passion for quality of food, soil, care for the health of people, and supporting local farmers. Anyone else would have buckled under this kind of pressure.... What this means is that the care and concern for the source of the food runs deep. I know of no cafe that cares about the ingredients down to the quality of salt and the butter the way that this one does. I could write pages ( luckily there are many books) getting into why the food we choose to support matters on all levels from the economy, to food security and sovereignty, to mitigating disease and supporting our bodies, to incredible ecological restoration. It only takes people who do this for the passion, because the profit margin isn't very big and the learning curve is huge. In order to ensure reciprocal support and to continue to believe in the change we want to see we need to show up and also try to care and understand how much goes into what they do! It's phenomenal to learn about. I know the team at Rooted Heart keeps going because of the countless times peoples lives have changed due to the food and herbs they put into their bodies. So come sip some bone broth and eat the incredibly yummy egg sandwich, learn about an herb, walk around, look at some plants and bask in the love, gratitude, and considerate detail that was put into caring nourishing the community. It truly is so exciting to be apart of! Thank you to the Rooted Heart Team! I am so blessed to see the incredible love that each of you carry and put into why you do what you do. Keep up the amazing work! Thank you for nourishing my family! With lots of love, your...

I LOVE these products!!! I’ve tried quite a few and have never been disappointed. Some of my favorites include:

The warming cbd muscle rub is perfect for massaging into your shoulders, neck, or any tight body parts. I also use this to during menstruation to massage my stomach and relieve pain from cramps.

Speaking of period cramps, her cramp bark tincture is also a must if you suffer from debilitating cramps and don’t want to take other forms of pain relief, such as midol. This is the first cycle I’ve used it with and I was able to make it through my work days without the pain I used to experience.

The herbal smoking blend tastes DELICIOUS! I enjoy the calming effects it has on me, helping me mellow me out when needed. It’s a great way to get a similar taste to cannabis without the feeling of being high.

The Hemp extract tincture is also a staple for me. I chose to take this mighty. I like to set an intention and then allow the medicine to do the healing. I have seen a decrease in my level of anxiety, increased focus, and better rest since I’ve started using this!

The owner, Nyeela, is extremely knowledgeable about plant medicine and has always been helpful with recommending the right product for me. It’s apparent how much love and care go into these products at every step of the process in creating them! Thank you thank you...

This little gem in Buxton is worth the visit if you are traveling through Southern Maine!

As you walk in the door, you are greeted by welcoming smiles and hello's from the outstanding staff who tend to this cafe.

One of the first things you may notice is the wall of herbs and tinctures, many of them grown on that same land. While you visit, you may purchase botanicals and herbs from the garden tender-herbalist-cafe cultivator, Nyeela.

All of the options for food and beverages are top notch and delicious! Everything not only tastes great, but it is also prepared by lovely humans who are an integral part of making the atmosphere so welcoming and so cozy. 😊

If you are bringing little ones, there are some kid toys available for use in the couch seating area, along with more creations/products right from Rooted Heart Remedies.

The counter top is a tree that is customized with geometric patterns that are elegantly placed down the length of the counter, giving it a unique and boho feel that fits nicely with the other decor in the cafe.

I could really share so much more of why it is worth going, but nothing is gonna come close to actually being there in person and making the trip.

Instead of stopping into a coffee/food chain, make a pit stop in Buxton and discover one of Southern Maine's...
