There are two types of steak eater: 1.) Those who like A-1 or other sauces to drown the meat in, or; 2.) Those who like a 'pure' steak - salted/peppered cooked medium rare with a nice sear
Wynndale seems to believe that everyone is a #1. The fact that there are 5 MORE sauces available at every table speaks volumes here. They do not mention on the menu that every steak is served to you drenched in some sort of sauce. I'm glad I didn't get a huge expensive steak only to have it ruined by this. Had I been made aware of it, I'd tell them to simply leave the 'secret sauce' off the plate all together.
The beer list is limited to bottled domestics, Corona is the fanciest beer here. Salad bar was a mish-mash of unlabeled dressings and almost-fresh greens. Real bacon bits for your loaded baked potato shouldn't be asking too much at a steakhouse, but here you get soybean-oil based Bacon-Bitz.
I came as part of a large party and the service was as expected - down home country friendly. I give huge props to the staff and kitchen!
The ambiance of the place could be helped out a little, it was kind of like bingo hall meets Sunday Church buffet. Plastic cafeteria-style plates also add the wrong kind of charm. I was surprised to learn that it was one of the top 10 steak restaurants in Mississippi after walking in the door. I'm not sure about that and I doubt I could be convinced to drop...
Read moreNo close up of the seafood platter, I deleted it on accident 😭. It was a full lot when we got there, the wait was quick and only took 15 mins to be seated. There's no dress code, you can wear overalls and flip flops if you wanted.
We ordered the biggest steak cooked medium rare with fries and a baked potato. Steak came closer to medium, well seasoned. Fries were stale and soggy, baked potato was simple, but delicious. For a $30 Steak, it was better than other $30 steaks we've had.
Seafood platter was mostly a miss. Fish was cooked perfectly, but way too much seasoning for a light piece of fish, had to scrape some off. Scallops were overcooked, they were chewy and dry, but seasoning was good. Shrimp was perfect. Crab cake was nicely pan fried, but oh my gosh a lot of sodium, I had to use the bread to make a crab cake sandwich, taste much better after that. My favorite thing on the platter was the baked sweet potato, oh so good! I've learned not to get seafood at a steak house =*( When we want cheap steak, I think we'll skip Outbacks and come here but try different sides.
Service was great though! Again if you want a cheap, tasty steak, this is a good place! Get the baked...
Read moreWill never go back. Love food, even if get order wrong, tip well even if not the best service, no one has a great day everyday. Waitress acted like she was mad we were there. Rude. My friend's steak tasted like cleanong solution and my filet was unlike any I've ever had. Waitress never asked if they were cooked right . Paid $36 at register and never was asked how our dinner was. In fact ,when the cashier handed me my change, he started talking to someone and I said "Thank you". We arrived 45 minutes before closing, knew what we wanted and were out by the closing hour. You need to change your hours posted if this was the problem. We feel like we got just something they were going to throw out. Never have written a comment on any restaurant but have never had an experience like this. I came from out of town to see an old friend and live 20 minutes away. Ruined the evening. We should have just left. And never should have paid for it. We could have taken that $80 had steaks for the...
