So we're on a road trip back from Nashville to Illinois and we're looking for a spot off the highway that's not chain food. We come up with Cadiz Family Restaurant and I'm telling you it's one of the best things we had happen all weekend!!!! Got there decently late in the evening, worn out from being out in the sun all day, looking like a bunch of old pirates. We walked in and were greeted with a great smile and a laugh by a very very wonderful lady (we all missed her name but she was absolutely wonderful). She told us to sit anywhere we'd like and she came right over and helped us out with menus and explained what all was on the buffet that night. Two of us got the buffet and one got the burger. She took great care of us and we had plenty to drink the whole time. The food on the buffet consisted of friend chicken that tasted JUST like grandma cooked it, fried fish which was phenomenal, and pork chops which were absolutely GREAT! There were all kinds of sides like mashed potatoes and gravy, green beans, creamed corn, hush puppies, and so much more! We stuffed ourselves! I still wish I'd have tried the pie, I just KNOW it was going to be good but there just wasn't anywhere left in me to put it! All the while we visited with our great waitress. Did I mention how great she was? The best! She told us about her kids and kept us company. It was great! It was like being at home at your local spot and we were hundreds of miles from home! I wish I lived closer so I could come here more, all of us do, and I know we will return for more of that great hospitality and fried chicken next time...
Read moreParking spots were packed which made us all think it must be pretty good food. Nope...not good....it was AWESOME FOOD! The service we received was outstanding! Absolutely one of the best servers we have ever had in our travels & in our own hometown. They had a really nice dinner bar with a great variety of foods to choose from including a full salad/soup bar with dessert. Dinner rolls & cornbread were also provided at the table and they had a fantastic full menu to choose from as well. This is a small town restaurant, nothing fancy, but it is nice & clean, great service & awesome food! The only negative we saw....& it was a shock when we walked in... THEY HAVE A SMOKING SECTION. Upon entering we were told to seat ourselves - right for smoking, left for non-smoking. Where we live it is law that our restaurants be non-smoking. (This is the only reason for not receiving a 5 star rating in every category.) We would highly recommend this country home town restaurant to anyone in or around Cadiz, KY. We will definitely come back here next time we are in the area...

I say, " It's got pretty decent ratings." Then we get seated, walking past the breakfast buffet, which actually looks okay. There are 9 of us from a special needs 5 year old to me, the 60+ old guy. Breakfast menu looks pretty standard. I order French toast with bacon. Son orders pancakes with bacon. The waitress is very friendly and suggests some items. A couple of omelettes and other egg items are ordered. By the way, the place is very crowded. Then the food comes. The french toast is perfect, with a little crusty edge but not dry, as are son's pancakes, flaky and airy.. The bacon is perfect as well. The eggs are great. Everybody is sharing tastes. The waitress was attentive but not hovering and as sweet as can be. We are going back...
