Papa G's Old Fashioned Burger — Restaurant in Caldwell

My wife and I were very hungry traveling from Austin Texas to Livingston TX. We spotted Papa Gs and decided to give them a try. We paid $20.00 plus for two cheese burger meals. One with fries and the other with onion rings. When they brought them out to the table I noticed that the buns seemed to be mashed flat and had a brown greasy look. After getting our lettuce, pickles and tomatoes we sat down to give them a try. On my first bite grease filled my mouth. Not just grease but old rancid tasting grease. Now I'm no stranger to good greasy hamburgers. I love them. But these were not just greasy they tasted like they had been submerged in a bucket of old rancid grease. That wasn't bad enough but I also tasted something like charcoal in my mouth. I raised the bun and saw that the meat was charcoal black on both sides. It had been burnt to a cinder. I tried one more bite and got the same stomach chirnich results. My wife's burger was a little less burnt but not by much. The onion rings were burnt also and tasted like they too had been soaked in grease. The only thing edible were the fries. Worst burger I've ever tasted! Ever! These folks have no business running a burger restaurant. We left with only a couple of bites off the over priced grease sponges. At least we weren't hungry anymore. We both had upset stomachs the rest...

Had the worst ever pattymelt, the meat was burnt to a crisp & inside was a juicy pink RAW, & the texas toast was just as burnt as the meat was the MANAGER was outside on her phone & after about 10 minutes she came back in only to NOT WASH HER HANDS and went straight to kitchen area, mind u I was the only customer at the moment in there after 15 minutes of me ordering my food which still wasn't ready a few ppl came in to order & MANAGER walks from kitchen to take their order And proceeded to take their order messing with the money but she walks back to the kitchen and proceeded to make everyone food. Nasty & unsanitary And what is sad about this whole situation is this used to be a really great place for a good old fashioned hamburger but now with these cooks & MANAGER they have the whole menu has gone to the hell, the worst place ever. People please don't waste your time or HARD EARNED MONEY HERE . I surely hope the owners make bigtime changes or they gonna have...

No frills spot for satisfying burgers and burger variants (like patty melts) and hot crispy fries and onion rings. All the food on our visit was made to order. You will not see anything particularly new here but if you want an excellent quality cheeseburger and sides this is a solid option. Very straightforward dining area adjoining a convenience store. The restaurant was spotlessly clean to my eyes. If you are wanting a truffle burger or some fancy thing, this is not your place but if you like a quality burger you will...
