Taco holix — Restaurant in Calexico

The food here is disgusting. Never again. I purchased $50+ worth of tacos. We got asada, tripa and cabeza. The meat was, I don’t even know how to describe it, like a nasty, dry machaca made out of very, very bad meat. Flavorless. The sauces were flavorless too. We couldn’t even finish the food because it was gross. There doesn’t seem to be much hygiene- they practically ring you up where they prepare your food. It is a tiny space but they could get creative. The lady ringing you up and preparing your to-go food is not so friendly, to say the least, wears no gloves while or after handling money and had very long nails. Talk about hygiene. Surprisingly, taco shop options in Calexico are fairly limited. Taco holix boasts a variety of tacos and when I visited, they were out of several of their choices. I was looking forward to the borrego and unfortunately it ended up being blender meat. It tasted good but was a let down. The carne asada was good. The tacos came clean on a tortilla but they have a good salsa bar with some excellent hot salsa options including pico de gallo, cebolla/cilantro, & a spicey salsa verde.
