DUKE'S — Restaurant in Calhoun

So this place is an example of why our family has opted out of going out to eat BUT we hadn’t eaten in hours and were picking up our daughter from her grandparents and I read the reviews of this local place where I live and figured I would give it a try. I gave this place two stars because one the drinks were flat my husband and I both ordered coke zeros tasted like flat Diet Coke, so order got wrong, then we ordered the green tomatoes for an app… big mistake was soggy tasteless and had melted sprinkled cheese on top which doesn’t even go on fried green tomato’s the “sauce” they served with it tasted like straight mayo so I spit it out. Our waitress got our app wrong and gave us fried pickles and tried to say I told her fried pickles which I didn’t husband vouched cause he saw her give them to the right table. The hot dog my daughter had looked old and wrinkly and dry. The ONLY good thing was the burgers my husband and I had. I had the pimento cheese burger and he had their house burger. BUT I got sick later that night stomach cramps and nauseous. And considering it was the only food I ate that day it’s safe to assume it was from that pimento cheese. Will never go here again. First and Last time I go to lunch here. First, it took 5 minutes to just be seated with less than 1/2 the dinner seated. Next, they advertise meat and vegetables but don't have any clear signage of what they have and when we ask the waitress what the meats were today she didn't even know. When we finally got fed up and ask the neighboring table they told us we could just get in line. It was already 20 minutes since we entered the door and only about 12:30ish into lunch. They were out of all most of their meats and didn't indicated that they were cooking anymore. We grab a vegetable platter and the broccoli casserole is refrigerator cold in the middle, the beans have a congealed layer of pork fat, and the mash potatoes and gravy are lukewarm.

On top of all of this we waiting 20 minutes to get a single refill on our teas. After all of this it took an additional 10 minutes just to pay. If you want meat and vegetables just save your visit and go up the road to the other mom and pop place across from the...

Saw a picture on Facebook showing some very delicious looking wings. Made me want to check them out. Went there and tried 3 different flavors and some shrimp. The shrimp was perfect! The wings we got were Nuclear, Bourbon, and Thai Chili. The flavors themselves weren't bad at all. The wings were smaller than what I expected and a bit over done in some cases. Wife stated that some weren't sauced very well and I noticed we were short 1 wing. The Thai Chili had no spice to it, was all sweet and tasted similar to the Bourbon. Would I go again...maybe, but there are 1 or 2 other places I'd get wings prior. The actual place wasn't bad looking, but service wasn't the best.
