Carniceria El Amigazo — Restaurant in California

I hate to do this. I been going to this spot for almost 5 years now. I recently ordered the usual, Tripas. The Tripas this time around tasted horrible, chewy and tasted just like limon. It was so bad I had to throw them away in the trash. They must have hired the same cook that worked at Carniceria La Carreta, because they taste exactly the same, like Trash! I don't know if you hired a different cook, if so please re-hire him. This spot went from the best Tripas in town, to the worst Tripas in Town. I feel bad because, I just recently recommended this spot to a bunch friends. I really hope they don't go now, not until they figure out how to properly make...

Do NOT go early in the morning because you will be getting their reheated leftovers! And they are not good. We purchased about 1.5lbs of carnitas and literally received oil soaked scraps! The worst part is that the majority of clients that go in the a.m. are usually farm workers. This, to me, is unacceptable. We did go back and the manager confirmed that it was the leftovers and tried to rectify the problem. My issue is why sell it in the first place and at the same price? I'm just disappointed because this isn't the first time they've done this and I keep going back because they are usually good but this is definitely my last time...

The best, and I mean it. THE BEST mexican food I've had in the past 15 years outside of my mother's kitchen. The buche was phenomenal. The carnitas were succulent and cooked right. The carne asada was soft and juicy. Don't get me started on the portions! We even took home some dry chicharron to cook in green chili for the following week. All in all great experience. The prices were right. Service was great. My only complaint is they're in Bakersfield and I live in orange county. Can't wait to try them again if I'm passing through. Highly recommended. Cheers!
