Updated review after much more experience (8/29/2024):
Friendly, professional service. Relaxing atmosphere and mostly good food. I often find it very stuffy and warm inside.
Good burgers, nachos, and fish & chips. The club sandwich is okay but they triple-stack it and skewer it, so you have to disassemble it to eat it. Even then I have trouble getting my mouth around it without squirting all the ingredients out the side. Good beer and drink selection, with the bar being adjacent.
The pizza is tied for the worst I've ever had, and I don't have high standards for pizza. Crust is crucial, and their crust is mediocre-to-bad. The pepperoni I'd be shocked if it used actual pepperoni. It's small slices the size of Vienna sausages, and tastes like fried bologna. I tried one of each pizza and each one convinced me never to order it again. I also really disliked the "wasabi demons".
I dislike the way omelettes are ordered and priced. It's a base price of $11.75, with a side, but that base price is just egg and cheese. Then every other ingredient is a dollar each. At local competing restaurants, I can get an omelette, plus a side, with cheese and 4 veggies for the price of the base omelette here. Actually, many combination omelettes, up to a max price of $12.59 for "the works": cheese omelette with ham, bacon, mushroom, onion, bell pepper.
Again, service and employees are great. I think the problems stem from managerial decisions of ingredient selection like with the pizzas, pricing of some items like the omelettes, and plating methods like the...
Read moreI wanted a great steak meal with my husband after attending an event at smith river. I had stayed at this hotel once but had not eaten dinner there. I decided to go all out for a beautiful meal which is why we chose the casino restaurant. We ordered the two most expensive and what I thought best cuts of meat which were the ribeye and the New York. My New York was inedible. Over half of that was gristle. Only about a third of the entire steak was consumable the rest was in pieces on my plate because of the gristle. The waiter was embarrassed. The chef should’ve been embarrassed to have picked out such horrible cuts of meat. These two steaks were the most expensive thing on the menu and we’re in edible. Go for a burger or go for a pizza but do not waste your money on anything expensive like a steak because you’ll just be doing that wasting your money. The way I see it I wasted $50 on a baked potato and a salad since I couldn’t eat anything else. I had added shrimp to my steak order so I was able to eat those four shrimp together with the salad and the baked potato. I did take the gristle home for my dog so it wasn’t a...
Read moreI was a guest at the hotel and ate at the Sports Lounge. My experience began poorly when I asked the bartender for a menu. He handed me one while muttering that the menu was the same as the restaurant, as if I should have it memorized....the problem was that I had not previously been to the restaurant :). I ordered the ribeye, medium. I did use my $10 food voucher, which the bartender accepted readily. My steak arrived after a 25 minute wait, the bartender said it was due to a large party in the restaurant. Sure, OK. The steak was decent but very overcooked, well done for sure. I was not expecting steakhouse quality, so I was prepared. The best part of the meal were the grilled portobello slices that accompanied the steak, they were buttery and perfect. Overall, I don't see a reason to eat here unless you are staying at the hotel and are too lazy to leave, or you are frugal and want to use your free...
