Recently tried this place. Good selection of beer, liquor & wines along with the typical convenience store items like snacks: Ice cream, candy, cookies, chips & non edible sundries. Also ordered the Mexican take out food. It was decent quality for the price; nice assortment of tacos, burritos, enchiladas & tortas in your choice of meat (berf, pork, chicken) including birria (goat) either w/ or w/out arroyo (rice) & frijoles either hoya or fritos (beans, whole or refried.) Flavor was good, beans a little bland but the salsa was good. Thought the prices were in line as would be expected when you are in Toro area or near south Salinas & at a bodega. We have returned twice to order different items. My spouse liked the carne asada & I enjoyed the chile verde. We have both had the pollo. My burrito was filling; enchiladas tasty either verde or rojo; tacos good. The senora behind the food counter is quick to prepare the food & fill the containers. Other customers came & went while we were in the store section which has another jovencita to cashier & run the retail side. She was very pleasant & stayed busy keeping everything well stocked & cleaned. All in all a...
Read moreGot the Carne Asada burrito with everything for around $8.50, and the burrito was pretty small. First bite was all tortilla, second bite was a fatty chunk of carne asada. The rest of the burrito was a combination of grease and spicy-twicey habanero salsa. Five stars because I paid for it, ate it and didn't die.
UPDATE.. I returned to Lopez, ordered the Carne Asada Super Burrito with Avocado and Sour Cream, as suggested. It was good, but c'mon! It was the same size as the regular, just more stuff inside the burrito. I will add that the carne this time was not greasy. I still ate the habanero salsa. Yes my mounth was on fire, still. When I think super burrito.. I'm thinking larger.. Like SUPER size. When I order a super burrito, I think it should come with a pirate map to find my way out of it after I get lost in a heaven of bean, rice, carne, onion, cilantro, avo, sour cream, shredded cheese and stand in awe at the structural integrity of the tortilla, itself. But again, I paid for it, ate it and didn't die! Thanks Lopez. You still...
Read moreI went here the other day with only one person working. He was not wearing gloves while handling the food. He was touching the meat bare handed. The vegetables bare handed. Rolling the burritos bare handed. Then, went to accept payment from the customers in front of us, handled money for two separate customers, gave them both their change (all while not wearing gloves) then went to take our order and began preparing our meals. Never washed his hands. Money is filthy. I'm surprised no one has gotten really sick from there. I was disgusted and just walked out. The bathroom was filthy. The kitchen was filthy. I would not recommend this place to my...
