Marie Ettas Cafe has been there for over 50 years .Its a greesy spoon Cafe. The food stile is from the 1950s .The place is known for genero food prosions for your money. The property is privately owned not rented So they can afford to give you good prices .So I can take a friend to merrie ettas Cafe by breakfast for two at almost the same price as other cafes that have to pay rent. A small Cafe witch also serves Beer and wine .one or two drinks only .This ice tea is made in one gallon glass jar set out in the sun to make sun tea .The regulars there have a comraderadery that goes way back .Its not unusual to hear them yell back and forth inside the restaurant talking about the old days when men were men .and woman would scream as they walked by. With hot rods from the 50s park out front almost on a daily bases .With a little bit of durty talk to the waitress in a playfully fashion is normal .and genuinely just having fun. The home made hot salsa is blue ribbon called C4 its open for use and perchance in jars as long as you can promise to bring back the empty jars .or you will get into trouble. Everyone will chip in to chastise you for being so lame as to not bring back the empty jars .The western diamond back rattle snakes that reportedly sun bathe on the patio have all been relocated to the grate relief of some of the girls .It has become illegal to kill them as it is believed the help stop pestilence by keeping rodent population down ..known for being non aggressive but stepping on one would be inadvisable. My husband brought me here 30 years ago when we first started dating. The food back then was absolutely delicious. The staff was efficient, funny, and inviting. Even the chef would turn around and interact with all the customers. It was a very pleasurable dining experience. It was more like a family gathering instead of customers at a restaurant. My husband and I were in the area this morning and decided to stop in for breakfast/lunch. I ordered a hamburger and my husband ordered the sausage patty, eggs, and potatoes. Much to our sheer delight nothing has changed...the staff is still efficient, warm, and inviting, and they still have absolutely delicious food. Walked in and was stared up and down and scanned. Why? Good question! Never felt so disrespected. Not just that there was absolutely no greeting, nor direction; I sat at the diner and was glared at by all who sat around and the waitress saw me, made eye contact with me and point blank gave me the ugliest stare that made me feel very unwelcome, offered no direction, no greeting, just ignored me, gave me her back and proceeded to go behind me and talk to another table and greet another table and take another table’s order. The kitchen and stove looked really badly beat up and not to clean. The entire staff gave me some of the most ugliest stares walking in and leaving. Never plan to sit in...
