Oh my gosh, the pizzas at Pizza Norcia are outstanding. They are wood fired giving the crust a gorgeous blister. The crust is made from a sourdough starter giving it a darn delicious flavor and perfect chew. It's so satisfying to pick up a fresh, hot slice and watch that stunning cheese stretch. And better yet the flavors are just heavenly. Mmm. I'm in synch with this place. Luv the pizzas and Italian imported sodas. The staff are so darn down to earth and welcoming. The building is in a renovated brick building with a roll up fancy restaurant window/garage door. They keep the roll up door open providing a view to the main road. Tranquil view. But the dining room can get warm in a triple D summer day even with the AC running and the patio misters on. Digging the vibes and I don't say that about a lot of other eateries in this area of the town of El Dorado, CA. Logistics: Ordering is done in the inner room. They bring the food out to you. Menu offerings: Pizzas $17-$29. +$2 for gluten free pizza. Two salad options $11, $17. The imported Italian sodas are tasty and a lot less sweeten than domestic pop. Plus they even have a lunch menu served daily from 2-4pm. I know those hours aren't quite lunch, more like lunner or dinch time. Anyways the lunch menu offer smaller pizzas ( pizzettas) for $11 for margherita or two toppings, for $4 more you can make it a meal with soft drink and green salad. And only at lunch, they serve the Italian sandwich. They have weekday specials, current ones are: two pie Tuesday $55 for any two pies (excluding Abbot) and bottle of wine; three pie Thursday $49 for 3 pies from a select menu.

Well ... I'm back. This time I called in an order for pickup. At times the wait for a table or the food can be long. It depends. The wood fired pizzas are just delicious, just like hie they make ‘em in of Norcia Italy. So they say, I’ll take their word for it since I’ve never been. But you can go to the little old historic town of El Dorado. (Not that far from Placerville and Highway 50). The place is modern and comfortable with a chill, casual atmosphere. Family friendly. It's in a beautifully renovated building. The wood fire pizza oven is unique looking, it’s covered with the pennies. The wood oven sits in the back of the dining area. My go to is the bambino pizza with pepperoni and green olives. The pizza was baked perfectly this time. Last time it was undercooked with the middle of the pizza having a soft wetish middle. So a bit hit or miss. Not this time though. The crust had a beautiful blister and nice soft crisp chew. The castelvetrano olives come from Italy, they have a nice salty, buttery flavor. The pepperoni were little thin slices and when baked, they curled up like little cups with crisp edges and releasing a bit of the greasy tastiness. The pizza had a good number of pepperoni slices. The dining room, with its open wall concept, can get warm in the hot summer months and cold in the winter even with its ceiling fans and heaters. But not so much that it’s unbearable.

I'd leave zero stars if I could We’ve known Norcia for a few months now. We are from Italy so for a long time we’ve been searching for true Italian pizza. This is the closest we could find, but… I have nothing to say about the ambience because we’ve always ordered to go, but even though they say they are Italians, there are some problems. They use a pizza oven, the key to make a good pizza, but they don’t know how to use it, at first they were great but all the other times I had to complain and ask for a new pizza because it was all burnt, they said that it’s because of the special oven they use, but again, I’m Italian, and I know it has nothing to do with it, it’s just the pizzaiolo (pizza master) doesn’t know how to cook it. We’ve order margherita pizza all the times we’ve ordered (mozzarella, tomatoes and basil). A few pointers. A marghetira has some cheese on it, you put just a few chunks of cheese, I’ve had to complain and get a new pizza because it barely had any cheese in it, so, it’s like a tomato pizza alone. Then, the basil, YOU NEVER EVER COOK THE BASIL, a truly Italian pizzeria knows better than that. The basil has to be fresh, and placed in top of the pizza once cooked! I’ve never seen something like this, a truly Italian would considere this a sacrilege. So, burnt, with barely some cheese on it, and burnt basil, not only once but every single time. Sorry, but I don’t think we are coming back. And please, don’t call it Italian pizzeria because it’s insulting for us Italian. The first two photos are from Norcia, the third one is a true Margherita Pizza from Napoli, Italy. A very big difference right? Just for these guys who replied making fun of my italian name: Caro amico insolente e maleducato, non ho mai messo piede in un Olive Garden. Olive Garden? Che mancanza di rispetto!

I recently had the pleasure of dining at Pizza Norcia in Placerville, California, and I must say it was an outstanding experience from start to finish. The restaurant exudes a warm and cozy environment, making it the perfect place to unwind and enjoy a delicious meal.

First and foremost, the atmosphere at Pizza Norcia is simply amazing. From the moment I stepped inside, I was greeted with a welcoming ambiance that immediately made me feel at ease. The rustic decor, combined with the gentle crackling of the wood-fired oven, creates a truly charming dining experience.

The workers at Pizza Norcia deserve a special mention as well. Their dedication and passion for their craft shine through in every aspect of their service. The customer service is top-notch, with the staff going above and beyond to ensure a memorable visit. They are knowledgeable about the menu, accommodating to dietary preferences, and genuinely friendly, making you feel like a valued guest.

Speaking of the menu, the offerings at Pizza Norcia extend beyond their phenomenal pizzas. Let me introduce you to the Burrata Salad, a delightful creation that is a true culinary masterpiece. This refreshing salad features a beautiful ball of burrata, perfectly complemented by a medley of mushrooms, beets, and a drizzle of balsamic dressing and glaze. The combination of flavors and textures is simply divine.

And of course, the pizzas at Pizza Norcia are truly unparalleled. Cooked to perfection in their beautiful wood-fired oven, fueled by local oak wood, each pizza is a masterpiece. I've traveled extensively and tried pizzas all over the world, but I can confidently say that Pizza Norcia's creations surpass anything I've tasted, both in the United States and even in Italy itself.

The variety of pizzas is astounding, but let me highlight a few favorites. The Carnivoro is a meat lover's dream, with its generous toppings of salami, mortadella, pepperoni, sausage, and ricotta cheese. The Norcino, featuring a black truffle sauce, fior de latte mozzarella, lemon arugula, and fresh prosciutto, is a true delicacy. And let's not forget the Carretiera, with its perfect combination of rapini, pepperchinis, sausage, and smoked mozzarella cheese.

To complement the incredible pizza and salad, Pizza Norcia offers a fantastic selection of beverages. They proudly serve Birra Nursia, a unique beer brewed by monks in the town of Nursia, Italy. As the only place on the continent to find this exceptional brew, Pizza Norcia is a beer lover's paradise. Additionally, their wine selection is extensive, featuring a range of carefully curated options to suit every palate.

In conclusion, I cannot recommend Pizza Norcia highly enough. The warm and cozy environment, amazing atmosphere, attentive workers, speedy service, and unbeatable pizza and salad make it a must-visit destination. Whether you're craving a classic pizza, indulging in a delightful burrata salad, or exploring their exceptional beverage offerings, Pizza Norcia guarantees a culinary delight that will leave you longing for...

The first two times I tried this pizzeria, the experience was acceptable, though far from perfect. Unfortunately, the quality has significantly declined over time. The first time I dined in, it was uncomfortable: there were flies everywhere, it was too hot, and the overall atmosphere wasn’t pleasant. I ordered two pizzas: the prosciutto and arugula pizza was quite average, even bitter, while the Margherita was decent, but they made the mistake of cooking the basil, which should be added fresh. I also tried a beer recommended by the staff, but I didn’t like it. On another occasion, I had to complain because the pizza was burnt, which made it bitter and lacking in cheese. They remade it, and it was better, but it’s very inconvenient to have to explain how things should be done. Despite these experiences, I gave them several more chances, but there was no noticeable improvement. Even when I specifically requested fresh basil, they chopped it into pieces, and it still wasn’t fresh. I am Argentinian, born in a country where Italian pizza can be incredibly delicious. I lived in northern Italy, and I am the daughter of an Italian from central Italy. My entire life, I’ve enjoyed authentic Italian food made by my Nonna, so I know exactly how an Italian pizza should taste, feel, and be prepared. The last time I ordered from this place was two days ago, and it was deeply disappointing. The dough was completely hard, a clear sign it hadn’t been allowed to rest for two days as it should. This made the pizza heavy and unpleasant to eat. Once again, it was burnt, bitter, lacked cheese (they don’t even use authentic mozzarella), the basil was cooked, and the sauce tasted acidic, reflecting poor quality. I didn’t call to complain because it’s uncomfortable for me, but I will not be ordering from here again. The price does not match the quality of the pizza. In Italy, I’ve bought pizzas for 5 euros from true pizza masters, with incomparable quality. Lastly, I find the lack of respect and professionalism in their responses to customers appalling. Calling someone a “fake Italian” in a review is unacceptable and reflects poorly on the business. They have fallen short, both in the quality of their product and in how they treat their customers. I won’t...
