What a complete and utter disappointment this turned out to be.. that a 4.3 (minus this one) star local brewery serves top notch bar food and crafted beers, but would be spoiled by the egregious service we received that night. Compliments to the most incompetent ownerâ working that day. Violated every rule of conduct, code of ethics and restaurant etiquette that youâd expect someone in her position would adhere to. Yet, upon receiving the first 2 orders, we would be greeted with an passive aggressive and condescending remark for not paying attention to switch over a small laminated placard placed in the middle of the table. Thanks for the 0 effort in giving us a hospitable welcome. Clearly this had more to do with her having a bad day at work. If only she kept her emotions in check, and avoid taking it out on 1st time guests, for unintentionally ignoring one out of the other nonsensical restaurant rules and covid regulated procedures, she wouldn't have ended up looking like a total hypocrite herself, for being inattentive when verifying my partners request for a side of BBQ sauce NOT an extra order of BBQ wings before ringing it up to be brought out. In fact, later we were informed that prior to this, she had ignored one of her employees, who had specifically reminded her of his exact request, after she filled in the wrong order. Either the âownerâ had her ears clogged or, she was deliberately trying to rip us off. Needless to say, she had so many opportunities to own up to such a minor mistake that could have easily been resolved, but dismissed every single one of them by being arrogant and unwavered in her determination to put up a fight, continually shifting the blame on us. Seems rather strange, on why so much reluctance and hostility to fix such a simple task? Tbh, I think anyone would be just as dumbfounded as we were, having to deal with such and ignorant, and unprofessional display of conduct from an owner, that only someone mindless enough would think of doing. Obviously anybody in the heat of the moment at this point would eventually call it out on impulse for exactly what it isâŚ"being retarded". To be fair I would have chosen something less offensive only if i knew it would end up having our food ripped away from us, causing her to burst a blood vessel, by berating and yelling in front of our faces for how unjustified it was of my partner, to ever dare use such a word against her, mind you, while throwing the F bomb at us to get out of her pub like we were a bunch of dogs. Quite a melodramatic performance, that no one needed to see, especially families with kids that were present. good thing, the group across from us, decided to leave at the same time probably were so turned off from witnessing an enraged, and out of control Karen. Unfortunately, this would only bite us in the back instead. Having to pay for an order we never made, and having no luck in disputing it. Having to leave with our entire night out with the family be completely ruined. a time where most have been looking forward to spending, since throughout this pandemic. I guess this was a lesson for us as well, to be more mindful next time in what we say, and how we say it when being confronted with a similar situation. Nevertheless, all of this would have been prevented if it wasn't for her unethical stiff necked belligerent attitude towards us from the beginning. Regardless of whatever the reason may be, whether she woke up on the wrong side of the bed that morning, just hates her job, or is generally an unhappy person in life, should never be used as an excuse for such repulsive behavior. I bet the response to this will be exactly like the negative feedbacks on here. That case she might as well just do herself and everyone else a favor, by: #1. find a different occupation or career in life. #2 attend a session at anger management, or #3 protest at a rally, in that way, she can let out all of that anger and oppression built up inside, before ever deciding to run a...
Read moreUsed to be good. A long time ago, Six Rivers Brewery was pretty darn good. Over time, the food has become sub-par and the seating is horrible (while the cool metal chairs look neat, they're horribly uncomfortable -- kind of like it's on purpose so you don't hang around after you've eaten so they can flip the table). The beer is okay, but many of your favorite varieties may fall off the menu, as it changes. The food, unfortunately, IS NOT GOOD. At one point I really enjoyed my meals there, but something changed -- I don't know if the head chef left, or if they just get new cooks in on occasion... but it's obvious that "passion for cooking" is gone with whomever they have back there. This is not just a one-time observation, but it is my observation over the last year. I keep telling myself that I'll never return, for one reason or the other... but I keep going back to try to give them another chance... and they only remind me of why I should never return. The wait staff is friendly -- no doubt. Most of the time they're on top of things, although on our last trip (trying to take extended family out for dinner) it was a major fail... the kids were all served, which was nice... but when it came to the adults NOTHING that my extended family ordered came out -- and every request for something (beer, box, dressing, etc.) was never delivered (we had to go into the kitchen/order area ourselves just to get our own to-go boxes. The waterboy was the only exception -- he was on top of his game. We may not have received all of our ordered beers, but at least we didn't go dry. Thanks, waterboy! As far as the food -- a disappointment. I really think they have no one left in the kitchen that is passionate about food. It was just... okay, at best. Some of it was horrible. The fish & chips, which they like to boast about, is the worst it's ever been. Take the deep fried batter off, and see just how LITTLE fish you get. It's embarrassing, especially when you look at what they're charging for it. And the deep fried batter -- the reason why you take that off is that while crispy somewhat, it is just SOGGY and DRIPPING with oil. Very nasty. And this wasn't the first time. I've been trying to give this place chances for the past year... but it just gets worse. The hot wings are a sore spot for me -- as they're really good, when they're good. Unfortunately, consistency isn't on your side here.... and more times than not, the consistency falls on the side of not good (too dry, overcooked, stringy, tiny, tiny, tiny wings). The TOTS were brought back, which was a good thing... and they even have some creative ways of serving them. When they were first re-introduced a huge group of us went out in celebration of the return of something that never should have left the menu (because they're fries are okay, but not great). The tots are still something we always order, and they're usually pretty good. The side sauces are outstanding. The PIZZA is where they really seem to shine here -- as we've had PIZZA orders just about every time we've been there in the past year, and it's always WONDERFUL. Someone there actually likes pizza and knows how to make it. Let's hope that chef doesn't leave anytime soon. So... overall, the beer is "okay" to "good" (if the flavor you like hasn't been removed) -- the beer "flights" are an AMAZING OFFER and opportunity to try what they have. The acoustics in the place are pretty bad... so if it's packed you'll have to yell at the person across the table. If they have live music that night -- just forget about talking to anyone. If you have to go here because you think other "tourists" can't be wrong... order the beer flight, tots, a pizza, and BRING YOUR OWN CHAIR if you want to be comfortable at all. Ear plugs are optional, depending on...
Read moreFirst off, this has nothing to do with the restaurant itself. This is strictly to do with the worse tasting beer I have ever had and the possibly the most unprofessional response I have ever received regarding a review or comment about a product.
I sent an email to Six Rivers Brewery on February 17th, 2019 explaining how I purchased the beer (Macadamia Nut Porter), gave it a couple of tries, had a buddy try it as well, both agreed it was the worse thing we have ever tried, and told them that I would not buying anything else from them in the future. I received a response almost immediately afterwards from Co-Owner Meredith, which did impress my buddy and I. No resolution was offered other than asking where the beer was purchased so they could check to see if it was out of code so that they could have it removed from the shelves. I sent a reply back with when and where the next day, and never heard from them again.
Until a few days ago...
Apparently I hit a nerve and they hold a grudge.
I recently started using the Untapped App and left a review for the Macadamia Nut Porter. This the transcript from the comment section of my post:
Six Rivers Brewery: Hmmmm - can you tell us when and where you purchased the beer? We hate it when bad beer happens! This will help us track it down. Cheers
Me: about Christmas at a bevmo in Burlingame. I tried it shortly after buying it. Threw out the other bottles a few days ago
Six Rivers Brewery: Bummer you didn't reply to your email in Feb to us about the beer being out of code & pulling from BevMo. We woulda sent you a fresh 6er.
Me: I did reply the next day. After that, I don't know. I didn't get a response, even after your 1st near immediate response.
Six Rivers Brewery: Oh, so you did see that it was, indeed out of code- not a "bad batch" but still chose to dog us with the low rating. Thanks, bro.
Me: 1. Not professional response. 2. In your email you offered no resolution other than to contact the seller and get the beer off the shelf. With no response and telling me that you hope that I find a new craft brewery to replace you with, it implies that you are done with me just like I'm done with you. Bad batch or not, it was still the absolute worse beer I've had, hence the poor rating.
I have not heard from them since. I posted the rating a month after the original email, while my buddy posted the same rating in Untapped the very same day I sent the email. They never asked him about it. Just totally unprofessional in the way that they could not accept the negative feedback in a public situation. Everything was fine when nobody else could see it. No need to attack a customer for their opinion, specially as a small business. Not being able to handle the negative feedback, along with the positive, does not seem like a quality that a business should...
