Spuds — Restaurant in California

Here is a perspective from a collective of people that have no choice but to eat at Spuds. First. Your staff could care less for customer service or any resemblance of care to work for your establishment. The bar staff. Great. But separate from the actual food side of Spuds. On behalf of the bar staff, this excludes you completely. However I'd like to address the bar outside of service. The prices are completely out of reach for your target market. The beverage prices are so far out of our league for the enlisted that who can bother to have a drink and relax here. It's no wonder the DUI rate for the base is so absurd. And the hours. 4pm -9pm. Really? And on the weekends 4pm -12a. Might I suggest opening earlier during football season? (Update) they open at 130p on Sunday for football season. My other suggestion is something of what NAS Pensacola does at Portside bar. Affordable and safe to walk home to the barracks after. (Update) After speaking to the owner his attitude was that if they offered drink specials, that would promote drinking. Of course it does. You're a bar! You don't have to post the specials you just have to have more of them. As for the food at Spuds, the offerings and selection are nothing short of garbage found in the dumpster of OpSide galley. Example. Tonight we were offered: Creamed corn, white rice, potato wedges and fried chicken tenders. 3 starches and 1 protein. Now. There is a salad bar. Which on this occasion was near empty and half stocked as it normally is. On other experiences the food fares not far from my previous description. Garbage. I can say this enough. Most all of us are away from our home and loved ones. We rely on our galley to provide nutritious meals and a comfortable place to unwind as sailors. Spuds undermines moral and nutrition in their constant discare and relentless attitude of carelessness. I cant say I won't eat here again. I have no choice. Unless I spend more of my hard earned money. I'd offer a suggestion for improvement but honestly I don't know where to start. Maybe release the third party MWR and bring back Valley Inn...

The bartenders were RUDE ! I’ve only been to spuds bar once and I never came back again. It was an African American girl with short hair ( who’s name I know but, I am choosing not to say) and a white old lady with blonde straight hair. They had this nasty attitude towards me for no reason. I felt discriminated in different ways. They ignored me every time I wanted to order, they clearly didn’t want to work either. They straight up lied to my face and told me the bar was closed but proceeded to attend and serve several clients in front of me ?? (No, I was not drunk and this happened as soon as I got to the bar) Also, there was other people there who noticed the discrimination strictly towards me. I ordered 3 pizzas for delivery and was told they were busy and it would take about an hour which I understood. After 1 hour and 20 minutes I tried to call but could not get a hold of anyone as I kept getting disconnected. After 1 hour and 50 minutes I finally got a hold of someone. I was told they forgot my order and they would get it going immediately. I told them I would pick it up at this point to make sure they actually make it.
