Just don’t go here. My family friend got kicked out because she was saving seats (nearly everyone was saving seats). She had just had her daughter die so she got a little too angry and emotional which ultimately caused her getting kicked out but she was singled out out of the vast majority of people who were saving seats. If she had been eating dinner it would’ve been fine, and she wanted to get dinner but no server had gone over to her. She explained this to the owner (who kicked her out) but it didn’t matter; there was no food in front of her. I then called and explained that her daughter had died and she knew she had gotten too upset but in light of the situation I thought any descent establishment would rethink their decision. However, this is not a descent establishment and it didn’t change anything. Obviously the owner is terrible, unsympathetic, and chooses to put herself above the customer. On top of this, Swabbies had sold way too many tickets and there wasn’t nearly enough seats to accommodate the amount of people. Doors open at 5:30, and my friend had showed up early at 5:15 and got one of the last tables. By the time doors officially opened, there were no seats and a huge crowd outside who were shocked when we told them they weren’t getting seats. Clearly the owner cares more about selling tickets and making money than the experience of her guests. In addition, everything about the restaurant was extremely disorganized and stressful: from getting in, to getting a server, to the restaurant policies. Do not go here. It will be extremely stressful even getting in and clearly this establishment does not deserve...
Read moreMy wife and I have been to Swabbies 20 times or more, but this is the last time we will ever come. We came in from our boat like we always do. When we got to the security checkpoint, my wife had accidentally left an alcohol bottle in her bag. We did not realize it was there The security guard grabbed it and said I have to dump this out and started heading straight for the back. We told him no you’re not dumping that out. We’ll just go put it back in the boat. He replied you can’t do that. I have to dump it out. AGAIN I said we’ll just go put it in the boat. We didn’t mean to bring it with us. He looked back at his boss for clarification, who just rolled his eyes and walked away. We had not gone in the establishment, we had not paid our cover and we had not had already checked. We are well over 21 we were not trying to sneak alcohol in. The security guard said OK you can take it back to the boat but you’re not allowed to return. When we asked why he said because you had alcohol on you, you can’t go put it away and then come back, we could lose our license! We could get shut down!! Seriously? We weren’t trying to consume it. We weren’t trying to hide it. It was in her beach bag from the boat. Clearly a mistake The security company that Swabbies hires should be fired immediately for terrible customer service. You just lost good loyal customers. We frequently take people to Swabbies whenever we’re on the boat. That ended today! We went up the river by 200 yards to Alamar Marina. Where we had great service and good food They know how to treat...
Read moreI love Swabbies!
It is fantastic for what it is; a great outdoor music venue, bar, restaurant and hang out spot. Very casual, family friendly, dog friendly.
It's basically a big flat piece of dirt with picnic tables, mismatched patio furniture, two stages and some shade trees. There is a house which serves as bar and kitchen.
The kitchen is rather small, so don't be in a hurry on busy days. They have killer fish and prawn tacos.
2 bars, and prices are reasonable. They usually have some drink special going on.
Variety of live music acts from country, to rock, r&b and 3rd Friday reggae.
Located just above the river, you can boat in and use the public dock, or drive in. If you take the Garden Highway, it's quite peaceful, but long. Your other option is to take Highway 5 to the airport exit and follow directions to the frontage road.
The parking lot is small, but there is a park next door and some people park on the road around the corner. Since it's on the river, it's often a little cooler than the rest of Sac, and since it's on the river, mosquitoes can sometimes be an issue. They usually have...
