Taqueria El Grullense — Restaurant in California

Even when i order the samething its not always the same. Often i order a super wet burrito.. Everytime i get something different...i have had lettus in it when i was told it doesn't come with lettus. Sometimes with peppers and onions on top, sometimes not. If i ask for my food to be any different, like adding avocado or green sauce instead of red... Almost everytime i do not get what i ask for on the first try. Then to make it worse the cook seems visably upset.

Still though, they always correct it, when i ask to, and the flavor is the best in town! The prices are very reasonable. They have the BEST green sauce ive ever had! Just wish the food was a bit more consistent. ..meaning you get what you order the same each time as stated on the menu and that request were easy. I hate having to request my food to be made over...sometimes i dont even say anything.

I would come more often if I had the experience we would have when Ricky was cooking. He's the best!

11/15/16: Update! I keep trying to give this place another try but despite the great flavor THEY CAN NEVER GET YOUR ORDER CORRECT! Despite ordering something off the menu ...its NEVER THE SAME as described on the menu! Ask no sour cream...extra sour cream it is!

I consider myself an expert on Mexican food in my area because of 2 reasons... its my absolute favorite food and I've eaten at nearly every place in my area and not 1 until this place was worthy of a review. Second reason I grew up eating it more than most people that are not of Mexican decent (my mother in law was from Mexico, I lived with her for a time, she owned a restaurant in Mexico and in the states)I'm pretty well versed in the cuisine. This place sort of looks like a fast food place but if it had a carpeted dimly lit dining room you would think you were in a first class 5 star restaurant and the food is absolutely authentic and wonderful! It's a little more expensive than some others 2.50 for a small street taco that cost less than a dollar to make (I know because I do make them at home the same way on occasion) but it is worth it because of all the work! Always super busy, so that tells you something too. I guess I'll start doing reviews on others to help people decide. To the person who said they got food poison from this place, my thought is you probably got it from somewhere else, this place is CLEAN! Last thing, it seems they have been doing upgrades to the restaurant so they are always trying to do better (they don't need to, it's fine as is but it also...

The food here is really good, chicken soup tastes like mom made it! Served really hot with homemade tortilla. NORMALLY Great breakfast burritos. Unfortunately, the last 3 out of 4 times my order was taken by a young lady who gave me an absolutely horrible attitude! She was rude and very short with me, didn't answer my questions, didn't say hello or thank you. I'm very disappointed. I'm disappointed with the service, I'm not at all happy with my food ...which could have been avoided if she had taken the time to simply answer a question about the menu! I'm disappointed with how unwelcoming the staff treated me, the overall vibe and experience has completely turned me off and I will be taking a very long break from here. Thankfully competition is strong here and there's other great taquerias close by! Today's visit...
