Had to change the original review. Once upon a time this particular Cracker Barrel was among the best places semi-local to sit down and enjoy a good meal. Well, for a chain restaurant. Food was always hot and fresh, and tasty.
However, as of late (past three or four visits), the service has been lacking along with the food. Let's take the last two trips. Both times, our server has been inattentive. Lack of presence, despite moving about the dining area, taking over five minutes to even acknowledge our presence and begin the process of taking our orders. Once that has occurred, the time from order to receiving the food is almost even longer. And when the food comes out? Well, it's a sad story. It's cool, and dried out, like it spent a lot of time under a heat lamp while waiting to be picked up and served.
Tonight's experience was by far the worst. Took forever to be waited on. Our server was apparently training a new person. Okay, taking a little extra time is fine if you're showing the new person the ropes, I get that. But, you could tell the new person was utterly lost as to what she was supposed to be doing. The server was not communicating at all with them. They just aimlessly followed our server about. But back to the experience. Our order was simple, fish, French toast, and loaded hash brown tots as an appetizer. All good, yeah? No, not all good. As a former food service employee, every item in our order should've taken fifteen minutes at most to prep and cook. The appetizer is less so. Maybe five. Tonight wasn't a busy night. Guests that had been seated more than five minutes after my fiance and I were seated received their orders before us. Twenty minutes or more passed and our server brought our meals out, and when asked where our appetizer was, the server dismissively responded with "oh, I'll uh, get those out to you." Yeah, she did, ten minutes later after our meals were eaten. But the meals? Yeah, they had sat in the window for a while, mostly cold. My fish had obviously been reheated in the fryer. All the time the dishes were sitting and waiting to be delivered to our table you could see the wait staff in the back goofing off and joking. Not coming back to this one. I'll drive the extra ten minutes to the Cadiz store if I want...
Read moreI should start off by saying if I could leave negative stars I would. We visited Cracker Barrel on March 27th and the service from our waitress was amazing however we waited over 40 minutes for our food and our order was split into three different checks resulting in half of our table getting food first and about 15 minutes later the other half of the table received there food. Our food was cold and was undercooked. I ordered a steak at medium rare and received a steak that was rare as rare could be. My brother and sister in law also ordered steaks to be at medium well, they received steaks that where medium rare. I am a type 1 diabetic so I had already given myself insulin before this meal began and with everything not the way it should be my sugar began to drop. I asked for the manager and she began saying that the cooks where new, which if you where hired to be a cook you should know how to cook this shouldn't be an excuse; she had just clocked in and doesn't know what is going on, again not my problem you should have better management of your establishment; she said her mother was a type 1 diabetic and that she understands, she does not understand how your blood sugar affects you; we then asked her how she was going to fix this and she stated she didn't look at the bill so she doesn't know, regardless of how much our food costs you need to be able to fix our experience by giving better food and faster service so our food isn't cold. She had a horrible attitude and didn't know how to manage a restaurant properly. We did however receive new food and the steaks where cooked properly but the food was rotten and made my brother puke after eating one bite of the steak. Needless to say never again will I eat at this restaurant and cracker barrel needs to find new management and cooks for this...
Read moreWe were traveling a great distance and just happened to stop at this one out of the 100 locations throughout the state. I dont hold this against Cracker Barrel as a company. I love cracker barrel and even was a previous employee of a location in Kansas.
But for this location it was an awful representation of a small town and the only offered sit-down family restaurant. First store policy was to wear a mask... Yet it was loosely enforced as the wait staff continually kept taking down their masks, particularly our waitress. If you have it for a rule for your guests, follow what you preach.its just good business. Next, our waitress was lousy... She was super young and either out of inexperience or just teen attitude she was impatient about us ordering, when we did order, she never checked up on us, we waited for 25 minutes for our food even though it wasn't busy. Like she never came back. Drinks empty, coffee cup empty. We were one if her two tables. The other woman in our section was running 4 tables to give an idea. For which the same woman noticed and herself and another lady got our food served. The lady was the nicest making sure our drinks were filled before leaving. But after there was some things missing (no syrup for pancakes) and wrong items which took another 15 minutes for her to stop by and another 10 for her to get. Not once did the manager come and ask how our night was, which for a table that had apparent issues, you should come over.
The food which had been sitting awhile was delivered cold. Aside from that, the food was bland. Corn bread hard as a rock. The portions were at best lunch portions. I mean for real. So small. As a previous waitress and banquet host, I left her a tip but it wasn't what she could have and should have earned. Get it...
