With the first bite, I was transported to a realm of flavor heaven. The Szechuan sauce was a symphony of spicy, tangy, and savory notes that danced on my palate. Read moreA Hidden Gem in Cambridge: Mr. Li’s Chinese Restaurant
After a soul-stirring day exploring the rugged beauty of Hell’s Canyon, we found ourselves craving comfort, flavor, and a place to rest our feet. What we discovered in the quiet heart of Cambridge, Idaho was far more than a meal, it was a moment of grace.
Mr. Li’s Chinese Restaurant welcomed us like old friends. Though it was just twenty minutes before closing, Mr. Li greeted us with open arms and a generous offering of fresh fruit, his smile as warm as the kitchen behind him. There was no rush, no hesitation, just hospitality in its purest form.
We ordered General Tso’s Chicken, Pork Fried Rice, and Orange Chicken. Each dish was a revelation: crisp, tender, perfectly balanced in flavor and texture. The General Tso’s had a bold, savory kick; the pork fried rice was rich and fragrant; and the orange chicken, sweet, tangy, and utterly addictive, was a masterpiece. It wasn’t just good food. It was the best we’ve ever tasted.
But what truly sets Mr. Li’s apart is Mr. Li himself. A humble man with a twinkle in his eye and humor that dances between the lines, he turns a simple dinner into a memory you’ll carry with you. His presence is the secret ingredient, infusing every bite with kindness, laughter, and the quiet joy of someone who loves what he does.
If you ever find yourself in Cambridge, don’t miss this treasure. Mr. Li’s isn’t just a restaurant, it’s a reminder that the best meals are served with heart.
Blessings to this beautiful soul, Dorothy...
Read moreI stumbled upon this location completely by accident. My son and I were staying at the local hot springs and planned to get dinner at Lakey's Cafe which we discovered to be closed. I did a quick web search and found that Li's Kitchen was highly recommended so we turned around and headed back to Cambridge. The outside of the restaurant is understated and easy to miss even though it is situated right on highway 95. We walked in and sat ourselves down. The tables had mismatched chairs but everything was clean and neat. Soon we were presented with two basic, laminated menus by the man himself. We ordered General's Chicken, Sweet and Sour Chicken, some pot stickers and a few drinks. It was apparent that this place was a one man show as Li headed back to the kitchen and worked on our entree's. Because of this, our food did not come out all at once, but it still came out pretty quick. My son originally didn't want an appetizer until I started raving about how good, fresh and delicious the pot stickers were. After one bite he was hooked and was battling me for the rest. All of our food was excellent. Again, it was fresh and full of flavor. As we were eating our dinner, Mr. Li gave us some free honeydew melon to eat on the side which was excellent. Portion sizes overall were excellent as I departed with half of my dinner leftover to have for lunch the next day. We were in and out for $32 total. I would say it is an excellent value that I would highly...
