Disheartening Experience at Kingdom Coffee
Rating: 1/5
I had high hopes when my young daughter started working at Kingdom Coffee, this is her first job as she just turned 16 and after praying we all were drawn in by the promise of a positive environment and the allure of a seemingly Christian-owned establishment. Unfortunately, my experience at this coffee shop quickly turned from promising to utterly disappointing.
One of the most disheartening aspects of my daughterâs time at Kingdom Coffee was the way they treated young, new employees. Initially, the atmosphere seemed welcoming, but as time went on, it became apparent that there was a stark contrast between the exterior image and the internal reality. It's unfortunate to witness a business that claims to uphold Christian values fall short in the treatment of its own staff. Saying things like âYou look mean or you just donât smile enoughâ or âYou donât meet our companyâs expectations." I wonder what those expectations are; they most certainly are only Christian on the outside.
The interactions between management and several individuals, particularly the younger employees, were less than ideal. There was a noticeable lack of support, guidance, and genuine concern for the well-being of the team. Instead of fostering a positive work environment, there were instances where conversations were disheartening and discouraging. This not only affected my morale but also left a lasting negative impression on my overall experience. No one should ever go home crying after work because they are being judged on their face, they way they smile or donât smile or concentrating too much on all the varieties and learning how to make drinks.
Regrettably, I cannot in good conscience recommend Kingdom Coffee to anyone, especially to those I serve with or to others seeking a positive workplace. While the exterior may suggest a faith-based foundation, the reality behind closed doors paints a different picture. I believe in honesty and transparency, and my daughters experience and all those that we initially referred to their location in Cameron and Chillicothe at Kingdom Coffee falls short of the values they claim to uphold.
For those in search of a better experience, I would highly recommend exploring alternatives like Scooters, where not only is the coffee smooth and enjoyable, but the people genuinely contribute to a positive and supportive atmosphere. In comparison to Kingdom Coffee, Scooters has proven to be a beacon of friendliness and professionalism, making it a much more appealing choice for both customers and employees alike. A place should actually encompass the values they profess to hold and for that reason Kingdom Coffee is not one I would recommend frequenting. There are many other...
Read moreMy daughter and I highly recommend you try this place! We absolutely love all things about Kingdom Coffee! It's privately owned, not a chain. Even though Christian owned, they're still open on Sunday. The atmosphere and decor are incredibly peaceful. The staff is super friendly. Everything is clean and tidy...including the restrooms. We haven't sampled much of the menu but we're working on it! The donut holes are served warm and are quite tasty. Personally, I love their iced breve and my daughter is all about the fun flavored, colorful, energy boosting Lotus drinks. Her favorite so far is the Ocean Breeze w/club soda. It's the perfect stop on our drive to & from the city! AND, they have drive thru if you're in a toot and don't want to take the time to go inside. Also, now open in Chillicothe so we get to enjoy before church! Once you visit, you'll understand it's more than just food & drink...
Read moreWe stopped here on a road trip to Branson. The coffee was delicious! I received a recommended cinnamon vanilla latte with cold foam on top and I'm sad I can't come back for more. On top of that, the service was wonderful and so engaging. This is definitely a Christian coffee house as evidenced by all of the Jesus art work around the shop. My family and I are not religious so we were surprised at first, but the service didn't insinuate anything religious and was stellar. Definitely will make a stop here next time we travel...
