We loved this place, as locals to the area we w been several times in the past years, the food is amazing . The staff is great however the place was a mess and although there is no building code in campton myself and my husband cannot believe how this place was built! The new top floor is so unsafe I wouldnât even walk up there , there is absolutely nothing supporting the front side closest to the woods and only a ratchet strap with a screw in it holing up the right side! I cannot believe the town has let this go! As for the main deckâŠ. The support beams are not even touching the ground or deck in most places! Super scary! If people knew what they were sitting on I think they would have a lot less business. I donât know who built it new deck or old but a toddler with Duplo blocks could have done better . Also the grease from the Fryalater is just poured off the back deck leaving a trail of black tar like nastiness seeping into the mountain. Birds were all over it and Iâm sure getting sick! There was a huge pile of kitchen rags on the ground in the woods, and lots of trash on the floor. Very well staffed and not busy at all , they could have been cleaning. I tried to order a second glass of wine, and they only had one in the while place so I opted for a high noon which was $10 for one can!!! Unfortunately if we go back I think it will be for takeout only! We do not feel safe eating on...
Read moreWe rolled into The Little Red Schoolhouse around 5:30 PM on the hunt for a solid fishermanâs platterâand this place did not disappoint. After about a 15-minute wait in line to place our order (a good sign!), we made our way up to the top deck in hopes of snagging a seat. It was already packed with people soaking in the views, so we headed back down and grabbed a spot at one of the main floor dining tables.
Honestly, we werenât disappointed. The view of the mountain from there was absolutely stunningâan ideal backdrop for a summer dinner. It was a little warm inside, thanks to the steady buzz of the kitchen and a full house of customers, but the lively atmosphere added to the charm.
Our food took about 45 minutes, which felt reasonable given the crowd. And let me tell you, it was worth the wait. The fishermanâs platter came out perfectly friedâlight, crispy, and not the least bit greasy. The portion was more than generous, easily enough for the two of us to share and leave feeling full.
We had every intention of trying their ice cream after dinner, but we were so stuffed there just wasnât any room. Next time, for sure.
Fresh, flavorful, and served with a side of gorgeous scenery, this spot is a gem. Weâll...
Read moreI had the chance to visit The Little Red Schoolhouse, and it was a truly memorable experience. The first thing that stands out is the breathtaking mountain view being surrounded by endless trees and fresh air makes you feel fully part of nature. Sitting by the wide windows or out on the deck, you get the perfect blend of great food and the peacefulness of the outdoors.
Inside, the main floor has a warm and rustic atmosphere. The wooden tables are beautifully crafted and give the restaurant a natural style that fits perfectly with the setting. It feels cozy but also unique, like every detail has been chosen to complement the view outside.
The staff deserves a special mention they were friendly and welcoming, making the experience even better. As a first-timer, I appreciated how clearly they gave directions and explained the menu. They made sure I felt comfortable right away.
The food was fantastic too. I ordered the lobster roll with fries, and it was fresh, flavorful, and perfectly cooked. Definitely worth the trip.
It took me about an hour from Manchester to get there, but the drive through the scenic back roads was part of the charm. For the view, atmosphere, and service, this place is absolutely worth...
