Small, friendly restaurant. My husband wanted to try it, so we did. Normally, I would not order catfish when eating out but how could you not in a place called the Canoochee Catfish ?? We like our seafood fried, so that's how we ordered it. I had the catfish and clam straps. Hubby had that plus scallops. The prices are pretty reasonable. Meals come with 2 sides-we had a baked potato and coleslaw. Also comes with hushpuppies. All In All a pleasant experience. Servers were very nice and took good care of us. I think there are a lot of regulars since many were addressed by name. It was a busy Thursday eve there. They have limited hours, so check before you go! Enjoy!

I have eaten here many times and never been disappointed. The staff are the friendliest folks (service as sweet as their tea) you'll ever find anywhere. Yes... there is a long wait if you don't get there early but where can you go eat and not be a wait? Unless you want fast food and I don't. I can tell you this - the food is worth the wait. I've had the shrimp, catfish, oysters, scallops and clams its always been very good. I keep telling myself to try the steak but keep getting the pick-3 seafood. Someone sitting by us last night and ordered the steak and it looked fantastic, next time I'm getting the steak. Give it a try... I think you will enjoy it.

Tried for the first time 7-27-24. It's was clean, the staff were friendly and provided great service. Wife had the catfish which was good. I had the ribeye which was very good. Only knock would be the steak could have been seasoned a little better. But you can always add salt and pepper... Nice thick ribeye char grilled to perfect med rare. We will go back.

This is a great place to go with family, friends, church group group, or co workers. The down fall is they’re only open Thurs- Sat 5-10. That makes 8t a great place to work but a hard place to get to if you work long hours. Some ladies such as myself like to get a break during the week from cooking and having to do dishes. Savings all of it for the weekend when they’re off and have more time.

Down side…. It’s an hour drive from where I live. Plus side… gave me a chance to work up an appetite.

Down side….when your main meal comes out you may think ā€œthat’s itā€ that the ā€œ5 mixed seafood combination ā€œ platter. Plus side….. your main meal comes after you’ve already eaten an hearty size appetizer and trip to the salad. bar. So my husband who has a very hearty appetite got gator for appetizers, a ā€œone tripā€ salad bar (as his side instead of fries and having to pay additional for fries. It was delicious he said), and his combo platter consisting of 2 pieces of catfish, shrimp, stuffed crab, scallops, and fried oysters. I thought to myself, I’m so disappointed he’s got to be unhappy. He’s not going to want to come back. But to my joyful surprise he was pleasantly full. He was pleased. He said everything was delicious. He couldn’t even finish it. He had to take it home which in itself was unusual.

My son ordered the surf and turf cooked MEDIUM. And oh my Gosh if that was not the prettiest steak I have ever seen. It was cooked to perfection. The steak took up just about the size of the plate. It came with 2 skewers full of shrimp a baked potato any way you want it, a piece of Texas toast, and a one-trip salad bar. All that for just about $32.00 -$34.00 if I remember correctly. It was def

Down side….and if you go with family and friends and have a lot to talk about and cut up about then you won’t even notice that there isn’t any cellular service out there. So nope, can’t check them messages, or e-mail. You can’t even make or receive a call. So if you have a little one or elder one at home you need to give them Canoochee’s landline phone number in case of an emergency.

Down side…. Because of not having ā€œWiFiā€ they do not have credit card terminals. Therefore, they do not accept cards. ONLY CASH & CHECKS. and boy my husband drove and I just happened to bring my bag along for the 1hr ride and thank God I did otherwise I wouldn’t have had my checkbooks with me.

Service was incredible! Never had such service at any establishment before. All the waitresses worked together. So no one waitress was assigned to one table. We never sat with an empty glass. They steadily refilled them. There was never an empty dish left on our table. They steadily took away the dirty plates.

Overall we’d have to give a 10/10 but it’s an old restaurant. They’ve been around forever. So it’s not modernized. Though you may think like we did at first, that it might not be that big of a platter but you get so much food overall then you end up...

Well I was very disappointed The flounder was paper thin and fried too hard the so-called catfish I got definitely wasn't catfish too what I'm used to I don't know the first time I ever went there it was fabulous this time it was not I don't know if I'll ever go back because that's $25 you know I think I'd be better off to go to chatters and no I didn't say anything to anybody they were very nice to you but I was super disappointed and usually I'll speak up but I was and I drove quite a ways to get there so I'd rather drive the lines and go to chatters and I know exactly how it is every time I go so I do wish it was as good as the first time I went because I'm on disability and I can't afford to throw $25 away and that's what I feel like I did the clam strips were fantastic now that I have to admit they were great but the rest of it no now the baked potato is good but the so-called catfish...
