Unfortunately the best public course in NH treats people very poorly, including children. No wonder their ratings are so low. My 12 year old daughter played in the club championship as a junior member this year. After finishing day one in 3rd place and easily beating her playing opponents, the ranger asked my daughter, wife and I into the pro shop. He scolded us about pace of play (4 hours and 15 minutes) because we finished about 30 minutes behind the group in front. By the way, a typical round at CWCC on the weekend is in excess of 5 hours. I attempted to educate him that in tournament golf, you need to maintain a certain pace, usually 4:30, but if you’re slower than that then you should be finishing within 15 minutes of the group ahead. He repeatedly kept saying “you know what I’m talking about” and then questioned me on who said I could caddie (I did so, so that I could drive the cart to keep up on a very hilly course). Ya know, 12 year olds don’t have the ability to drive golf carts. The previous year I was allowed to caddie after asking the club pro (no longer there) so I figured the policy stood. The previous pro was excited about the prospect of a very good junior female golfer at the club. Apparently one of the other members in the group complained to the ranger during the round because my daughter takes multiple practice swings. (Doesn’t matter if you hit your shot within 40 seconds) The club pro got in on the utter incompetence as well and showed support to a very clearly miserable person in the other member who eventually came into the clubhouse and proceeded to tell us that my daughter wasn’t even having any fun out there. My wife and I were disgusted at the treatment from a fellow member and the staff. I told them on the spot we’d never be joining there again. It was by far the worst treatment and experience we’ve ever had at a golf course. And to treat a child like that, especially one who observes the etiquette in golf very well, is truly disturbing. I hope they’re happy they lost the US Kids New England Champion who is the sweetest kid, in order to pander to a 40 something miserable person who will contribute nothing to the game. Oh, and my daughter smoked this woman by 11 strokes. Yet she’s the one slowing them down? Off to the Beav where we’re treated...
Read moreI booked a tee time a week in advance for group of 14, showed up and was told my booking didn't exist and there was no way I could have booked the time (even though I showed the exact moment I called 1 week prior). The lack of effort by the Pro to make things right was what I found most unsettling. Mistakes happen, make it right next time.
We are an annual golf group, that had played the course in the past...you just left a very bad taste in our mouths and I'm not sure if we'd consider playing there again anytime soon.
We called lochemere just down the road who were amazingly understanding and made things work for us. Big ups to Lochmere!!!!!
Update 7/25/18 Owners response... "we apologize you didn't fully enjoy your round and we will escalate your feedback to management. Thank you for playing Canterbury Woods Country Club, we hope you give us another chance in the future"
This is absolutely horrendous customer service. clearly didn't even read what I wrote. You may have an amazing golf course, but you all need to spend some time understanding...
Read moreFirstly, we love playing this course. Amazing layout, long open holes, short fun par 3, great conditions, nice views, it’s a very consistent track. Second story deck and kitchen/bar are great after round destination with great food/drink. However we haven’t been able to get onto the course in two years. I was gifted two free 18 rounds with a cart for 2024 season and despite trying six times last year to use them we couldn’t book a tee time. Every time there was “ all day league tournament” or no tee times before 11:30 am. We were calling trying to book days in advance not for the following day. My free round coupons expired 10/31, knowing I wouldnt be able to play the weeks leading up I gave them to two other individuals, both of whom also couldn’t get on the course as well, and sadly they expired despite trying on over 10 occasions to use them. Now in the 2025 season, it’s been the same thing. Leagues all day, no morning tee time, etc. Been playing here for at least 15 years and would like to...
