Overlook Cafe — Restaurant in Canton

This is a restaurant combined with a small store right by the dam on Canton Lake. They sell bait too, but I didn't see that, just saw the sign. The restaurant is clean, newly remodeled and a great place to see friends and enjoy good food. The staff members are all very friendly and helpful. I have never had anything to eat here that I didn't like.

The burgers are really good! The vegetables on the burgers are always fresh and crispy.

Some people I dine with absolutely love the catfish baskets. I don't like fish, so haven't eaten it, but it's a very popular item.

Their fried okra is delicious...a light crisp batter with the okra nice and tender. It's hard to find okra that is battered and fried this perfectly. So often, the batter is thick and kinda tough or chewy. Not here!

I love the chicken strip basket too. Sometimes I get fries as my side. Sometimes I get okra. Sometimes I order an extra side and get both!

I love their chef salads! The vegetables are garden fresh. There are different types of greens, not just iceberg lettuce, and the tomatoes taste home grown. They taste like tomatoes and that's getting rarer & rarer these days. They have homemade Ranch which is just so good!

I certainly recommend the Overlook. It's a restaurant that I really enjoy. I just wish it was open year round! I don't know the exact days, but it's roughly open March thru September. That's my only complaint! So give the Overlook a try. You'll become a...

Second time I've been in this area and eaten here. Very pleased both times as are others it seems as this cafe on the dam appears to be a popular spot. There is a great view of the dam as well as the lake and tasty food to boot. The menu has many common items as well as some unique selections. We also tried and loved one of their "sloppy beers" served in a frozen margarita style glass with lime and a salted rim.
