A True Representation of South Carolina BBQ. Gravel lot, covered and uncovered picnic areas surrounding a small hut with steady smoke flowing from atop the house within the pinnacle of one of South Carolina's smallest towns. True Carolina mustard "Gold" based smoked bbq . The Smokey flavor is wrapped into the meat to deliver a finish that is not too strong but undeniably within the meat. The sides should be considered the base standard for all joints that claim to represent Carolina BBQ. The Hash recipe is what you should leave with AFTER you get your bbq sandwich as dessert. Well deserved of a hole in the wall 5 star rating. I love my BBQ now folks and I honestly smoke my own meats instead of wasting money buying it most of the time. For Boston butts, This is prob the only place that I would stop from doing my own bbq to buy at the moment. Second to none in the area. Chester folks might as well make you way down the small stretch of road here before calling in your order somewhere else (I'm just saying). Would be interesting to see what they could do with other cuts of meat... I would expect alot of sweat from competitors... Good luck to these people , you should expect the same good product day in day out from these...
Read moreGreat homemade Southern Barbecue. Beef or pork, you just can't beat the food. I had the pork sandwich and even the bread was fresh and very tasty. The baked beans were excellent and the Coleslaw was perfect, just like Grandma's and that's the truth. Really as if that weren't enough, the spotlessly clean place, with total "screened porch" Southern afternoon feeling was a perfect place to eat. And they have tables and umbrellas outside also for a total picnic experience! In closing the prices they charge make the food not only delicious but a genuine bargain. Believe me, a sandwich with Coleslaw and baked beans is all you're gonna wanna eat! It's a great place for families with kids also with lots of "running around"...
Read moreI saw a sign that said best BBQ in the South a couple of miles before. My excitement was dashed by reality. I ordered a BLT, BBQ sandwich, and onion rings. The BLT was disappointing. The white bread wasn't toasted which made it kind of soggy and hard to hold. The bacon was crispy but bland, with a residual taste of old oil, probably from the deep fryer. The lettuce was iceberg, which is fine. There was not enough mayonnaise, though, which made it slightly dry.
The BBQ was what I call "hash" style. Pre-mixed with a bland sauce and having a kind of mushy texture. The flavor and consistently reminded me of bland baked beans.
The onion rings were fair. Large, wide pieces...
