TLDR: WISH I COULD GIVE 0 STARS! Got charged for top shelf liquors without any specification for that. Bartender knew he could take advantage of our young ages.
From the second we walked into the establishment, the bar tender did not show an ounce of warm behavior as an employee should. I am not sure if it was him be skeptical of our ages, but in that case we all would have willingly showed multiple forms of ID to confirm our ages/names. I can understand the questioning of our ages as we are 21 and 22 year olds, but continuing to treat us differently because of that assumption is not professional in the slightest, especially when choosing to celebrate a birthday at their establishment. From there, we opened a tab and ordered shots and mixed drinks without specification of a specific brand of alcohol (assuming they would give us wells unless other preferences are specified). Charging top dollar for drinks is one thing, but blatantly overcharging a group of young adults who are out to have a good time is downright predatory. As the night continued we got more drinks to celebrate a birthday and next thing we know we are all awake the next morning, not sure how we got home the night before. To say we were over served would be an understatement. I fully take responsibility on the fact that we all should have cut each other off, but it is also bartenders jobs to make sure that everyone in their establishment is coherent and in their right mind to at least get home. Thankfully we knew one of the employees who was able to help us get into an Uber. I had to reach out to the establishment to get a copy of our bill because none of us remember closing it out (because we didn't). A round of shots and mixed drinks turned into a hefty tab with mysterious charges that no one in our group had authorized. Once getting in contact with employees we found that we were served for 25 drinks in 2 and a half hours to 4 girls. We got charged for Kettle One Vodka for our shots and Buddha vodka for our mixed drinks. For those who don't know what Buddha vodka is (because we did not), it is a fancy, swanky bottle. We were also never asked our name for the tab when ordering drinks even when different people ordered than the one who originally opened the tab.The sneaky tactics employed to rack up the bill without consent is disgusting and clearly a target toward the fact that we were younger women who he thought wouldn't look twice at an expensive bar tab. He thought wrong!
Following all of this, I was encouraged to speak to the manager about our experience. I called and politely attempted to recreate what our experience was from the past weekend and he simply said "What are you wanting me to do about this?" You would think that I would have been met with an ounce of respect or even a simple apology would have made my friends and I feel better, but he did not offer that. He claimed he would investigate this and corroborate the story with the bartender but did not even ask for a call-back number and so I am not expecting anything out of that phone call. I just wanted to share for younger women who are going out to bars like these so that they don't get taken advantage of...
Read moreThe food was good, and the atmosphere was pleasant. However, what made the whole experience dreadful was our waitress, Annie. From the get-go she made everyone at the table uncomfortable with her abrasive attitude in seeing our IDs and then immediately bailed on us for a half-hour till we received our drinks. I tried to order a specific drink when she came back with our waters, but she told me to write it down because she did not care what I was asking for and put priority over other customers than our table. What’s worst of all, three out of the four individuals at the table had not eaten all day and she didn’t even bother to return to our table for another twenty to thirty minutes. Upon return, she was short with us for just trying to place our orders, and was not considerate, thoughtful, or interested in checking on our table. We walked in at 5:00pm, hoping to at least eat and leave by 6:10pm, but had TO WAIT till 6:40pm till we were finally able to pay. Annie was rude in trying to get us out when we were waiting on her to bring our checks. Being it Yom-Kippur as well, I was forced to rush and eat my meal before sunset began. This is a 24hr fast, and this was a stressful and infuriating last meal before the start of the High Holy day fast. I will give my business again, but not if...
Read moreWent there with friends after the Run 317 5k in West Clay since it was one of the local venues the organizers suggested to visit. The beer was good, but the service terrible. After somewhere between 45 min to an hour after ordering the waiter started apologizing for the slow kitchen. About 10 min later we asked to get our food to go and to pay our bill so we could leave when the food arrived. We paid our bill and sat for another 40 minutes until our food finally came. Total time for our wait was over 90 minutes (one person in our party had already left). Someone came and presented us with $25 gift cards to come back another time. But near the end of our wait, a guy that had been drinking with some friend near us at the bar came over and said he was the owner. He apologized for the wait and made some excuse having a new cook. But my first thought was why was the owner just drinking at the bar while his wait staff and kitchen staff were SEVERELY in the weeds. The place was fully, but they new there would be 2000 runners at the Run 317. They should have planned for a busy evening. I left the gift card on the table since I won't be going back. Based on the attitude of the owner, I doubt it will around next year for the Run 317 5k...
