Barnside Creamery — Restaurant in Carroll Township

Cute little barn on a country road... must be a nice friendly place with good food, right? Nope. Walk up and the sign on the window says "No public restroom, please don't ask." Wow, what a friendly first impression for a new customer. Our little daughter did have to go to the restroom (which of course they have) but nope, have to hold it. Even the $40 we spent on lunch doesn't apparently give you access to their restroom. Apparently the nickel it costs to flush a toilet trumps customer convenience. Totally understand this policy in big cities with heavy foot traffic but my lord we are in the middle of nowhere. I kid you not we stopped afterwards at a restaurant a couple miles west of there so my little girl could use the restroom and they said it's only for paying customers. This may be the most unfriendly small town in America.

Next, a Cash Only sign. Some may think this is a nostalgic sign of the good ol' days. What it actually represents is a business putting profit over the customer's convenience to avoid credit card transaction fees. Next up is the teenage girl who stared at us in disbelief that we didn't use the drive thru lane. Not friendly or personable at all. I'm not even sure she said hello to us.

Next the food. Our hot dog buns completely fell apart when we first held them. The ice cream we got was icy and watery. Not creamy at all. Cash only. No atm on site. So you can/have to drive 10minutes to and from the gas station 3 miles down the road, if you want to eat here. Or I suggest going to a different place for ice cream that has adjusted to the year we live in and has a debit/credit card reader. Phenomenal ice cream, prices, and service at Down's Dairy only a few miles away. Can't speak about the quality here as I opted to not waste my time going to a gas station for cash smh. Bad business. Hidden treasure! I drove past thinking it was just another farm in the country until I saw the sign in front read, "Cherry Dole Whip". I turned around instantly and made the stop. There ice cream menu is HUMONGOUS! The kids n I couldn't decide what to get. I got the cherry dole whip because Disney World has their famous dole whip and I had to get it! It tasted like a Cherry Laffy Taffy 😋🤩. I also got a butterscotch caramel milkshake and it tasted just like the Butterbeer from the Wizarding World of Harry Potter!
