Stopped here since we were camping in the area, and I love BBQ and try it wherever I go.
Over all it was OK, just OK. As it's about the only option in the area, there's not much of a choice.
The prices are excellent.
The food was ok, not great, not special.
I got the pulled pork plate with onion rings and potato salad. The pulled pork wasn't very flavorful nor smokey. It's about on par with the pulled pork anybody can make in a crock pot. No rub flavor at all. The onion rings were good, but they seemed to be Sysco stock rings. The potato salad was very good though - creamy with good tater chunks, bacon flavor, fill, and something I couldn't name.
My wife had a half rack of ribs with green beans and fried okra. The ribs were tender and not fatty, but no rub flavor and the sauce tasted like a commercial stock sauce. Good smoke flavor though. The green beans tasted like off the shelf canned ones and lacked flavor. The fried okra was good, but was also probably Sysco stock.
We had the chess squares for dessert and they were excellent.
One thing to note in this Covid era with increasing outbreaks again - no one in the kitchen was wearing a mask. Take that as you will, but it shows a lack of concern for the welfare of the staff and patrons.
Overall it's ok to stop for a bite of you don't have anything better. Not worth driving out of your way for.
If we camped nearby again, I'd probably pass and make my own pulled pork in...
Read moreOrdered 2 sandwiches and a bbq plate. I specifically asked for extra hot sauce for the plate on the side. After the girl behind the counter handed me the bag I asked her again if she put the extra hot sauce in the bag and she said yes. I got home and there was no sauce. The meat on the sandwiches as well as the plate was extremely dry and crusty. I couldn’t even eat the meat from the plate. Also, after looking at the menu on this page, I was supposed to get a drink with the plate and she never asked me what I wanted to drink and didn’t offer me a cup. I didn’t even know the drink was included. This was a complete waste of 24.00 plus the tip I left in the jar. Never again....
Read moreWhat a charming restaurant!! The decor is fun and quaint and a bit odd. The atmosphere is down home as it gets. My boyfriend and I loved our BBQ french fries! The slow cooked meat was spot on!! So good! We also ordered banana pudding. It wasn't anything to brag about nor was the tea but the BBQ was a place holder in our hearts. Tbh, commenting about the service being lackluster is not to be missed. The girl at the counter was sweet but we had to remind her of our pudding and the gallon of tea we ordered. We were the only customers so it stood out she forgot part of our order. Otherwise, a great stop for a full belly and...
