Burrito Shak — Restaurant in Cary

I’m not sure how appetizing this photo looks, but it probably doesn’t do the Burrito Shak bowl justice. I tried Burrito Shak for the first time today and out of all the places I’ve tried (McDonald’s, Vinnie’s, Firebirds, etc.), this is the only place where I felt genuinely comfortable eating the whole thing since trying to lose weight. Not only does everything taste fresh, but it is just so so SO good that calories were something I completely dismissed for the first time in MONTHS. LITERALLY!!

I genuinely enjoyed this bowl and whoever made it definitely didn’t skimp on portions. All this for $16!?!! And I had it DELIVERED!! They could’ve been cheap with it like Chipotle and sent me war rations, but the workers gave me plenty of food. Way more than enough for today and tomorrow. I will be eating good for not one day, but TWO days in a row.

If I could, I would go down to Burrito Shak and give the chef all of the compliments I possibly could. If I could, I’d move into Burrito Shak and just live there. With food like this everyday, I’d be the happiest girl in the world lol.

They don't do orders over the phone and charge a service fee to order off the site, which includes a limited menu. Ok, no big deal but a bit inconvenient and an FYI. Their prices are decent at first glance, but we were nickel and dimed for ingredients that are normally included everywhere else. Basic ingredients are extra in the oddest ways. For instance, the nachos have queso listed on the menu, but if you order them online then queso is $1 extra. Want cheese? Extra. A small, and I mean small, helping of meat? extra.

The fair is nothing to write home about, the portions are small. You can even notice this in their website advertising. Everything is zoomed in to give a larger appearance, but it's actually quite tiny in my opinion. Our burrito was about 2/3 the size of most other decent burritos of comparable price. The nachos, even with several paid for extras, looked like they barely had any ingredients on them. Just basically a bag of chips with a pinch full of each ingredient. The quesadillas are good, but nothing particularly special in their flavor profile.

I just feel, in what is a highly competitive food niche, that I have several better options out there. The only thing that stood out was the scant amount of ingredients. Don't get me wrong, the food is good. It's just not great and the small portions and extra costs for basic ingredients...

Edit: Chase, the owner, reached out to me after my post. He expressed how the restaurant strives to be a community and how he's sorry for not reaching out sooner. He also said that he will talk to his employees about being more hospitable. In addition, her gave us a coupon for $25 off our next meal. All in all, I find it a bit convenient that they called me within an hour of my original post, but I do understand that they are new and are still learning. I would say, give this restaurant a try. The food is good (if prepared correctly) and the price is very cheap.

Original Post: Customer service here is atrocious. When ordering in person, the person behind the counter acts like he's annoyed and pressures you to make a decision quickly. To avoid this, I ordered online, however, when I did so, half of the ingredients were missing. I ordered 2 Aloha bowls and everything that makes the bowl an Aloha bowl was missing i.e. the pineapple salsa, the cotija cheese, baja slaw, pico de gallo, and avocado crema were all missing. It looks like they just add my add-ons which were beans, corn, and cucumbers. On top of that, I order fish, but I mostly got batter. I called in and they said the owner will call me back.... They never even took down my phone number and I never got a call back. So...
