Top of the Hill Grille — Restaurant in Casco

We have been here many times this summer and past. We are seasonal regulars. We always had good service and food is great BUT this year the service was horrible. Now I know they are short handed as most places so we are patient. The last few times we came here we were blantly ignored. We always sit at the counter and we sit there people would come in after us sit down and get waited on. This last time we sat there for 5 minutes, two men came in after us sat down and got waited on immediately! It was still another few minutes before she even gave us menus and still didn't ask if we wanted coffee or anything and had the attitude of "what do you want" I had to ask for coffee! I have gone there many times and the food is very good however I did have a bad experience today I ordered eggs Benedict the menu said you could get it with six strips of bacon or two sausage patties I asked the waitress if I could get it with three strips of bacon and one sausage pattie her reply was she didn't think the cook would do that and didn't offer to ask him i'm not sure but I would think that the bacon and sausage were already at least partially cooked and there wouldn't be any inconvenience to the cook Whatever happened to " have it your way " Just a sign of the times I guess no one wants to be inconvenienced or in this case to think they're being...

I got a teacake (regular sized pancake) and the homemade hash platter. Loved the potatos, the raisin toast was amazingly moist and tasty, the eggs were over easy and I asked for over medium, and the homemade hash was good for that type of hash. I prefer it a little different; what they have is a very tender in house made corned beef made almost into a patè with potato chunks. A plus to it is that it was NOT too salty.
