Overall, the food was bland. The tortilla on the burrito was chewy and tough when trying to cut it with a fork, shredded beef was not chewy, however there was little to no seasoning on the meat., and the "red sauce" seemed like a thinned tomato paste , again , with no seasoning. It was like eating a tortilla with roast beaf, and tomato paste on top. Not very tasty. Thought I saw on the menu that there was supposed to be guacamole as well, but didn't see. Rice was also bland. Chips were brought but no salsa. Music was too loud. "Fried" ice cream had soggy corn flake coating which tells me it wasn't fried at all and didn't taste any trace of honey/sugar in the coating, so it was a big ball of vanilla ice dream covered in soggy corn flakes.
I am going to wait a while before I return in the hopes that they improve the food as sometimes new places take a while to get their footing. People in the area like the red or green sauce that can be found at both the chain and family owned restaurants that can be found in Fargo, i'm not sure what the sauce on the burrito was, but it wasn't very tasty. The place looked clean and the wait staff was attentive, so...
Read moreThe first time I went to El Valle, I was driving through on a road trip. When I tell you that the maxima quesadilla was out of this world! It was STUFFED with fajita style meats (chicken & steak) and also had chorizo, ham, and bacon. It was so filling and the flavors were delicious! I told my husband we had to stop by on the drive back. On the drive back, we got to speak to the owner and she was so kind and welcoming. She told us that she just took over the property and is so happy that we chose to stop in again. She mentioned that they were still new and had a smaller menu, but asked if I would like to try a “chefs choice” entree. When I tell you-these special Gorditas were OUT OF THIS WORLD! Do not just write this off as a roadside taco shop, this place is the real deal! I will be making sure all future road trips that pass even within an hour of Valley City will have a dedicated stop...
Read moreWhile we may have tried this restaurant during the soft opening, we won't be back. Tip: don't allow take out or online orders as you need to attend to your guests until things are figured out. Help those entering to understand how to order - absolutely no direction given. Help your staff understand to interact with customers in limbo vs walking past customers (we observed 5 employees not acknowledge a customer by the till). Serve all orders for a table at once. One poor table had two of three orders served and the other customer waiting forever to get their tostada. Self serve salsa area needs help, and overall atmosphere. No review of food as we never received it (we were not the only ones) - we left hungry. Maybe the food was good and worth the...
