Have been a long time train station frequenter when the old owners had this place and was sad when it sold. Decided to give it a try this morning as some new owners bought the place and was thoroughly disappointed.
The glare from the man as soon as we walked in that was at the end of the counter up front was very off-putting, he seems to be a family member from what I could figure out online so hopefully he can smile or something if he's going to look at everyone that comes in the door. Ordered unsweetened ice teas for the table, 3 with lemon, one without. After letting the waitress know, she got it backwards, so explained it again, she's writing this down, still brought 3 teas without lemon & one with. Ok, whatever, no big deal. I was with my family, my one family member ordered a burger, only onions, with chips. The chips were in the plastic lays chips bag, on the plate, bag touching the burger. This is unsanitary. Burger size was small, though tasted fine. Maybe serve fresh cut chips since you already do fresh cut fries? I ordered sausage gravy, 2 eggs over medium, white toast and a sausage patty. Sausage gravy was lacking flavor and the biscuit was very flat, hard and dry. I did eat it all because I'm pregnant and was hungry. Sausage patty was burnt but still undercooked and cold on the inside. Very gray in color. I took a bite and had to spit it out because it was cold, since I'm pregnant, foodborne illness is very dangerous, I can't risk it. I mean, shouldn't have to worry, but definitely worry more due to being pregnant. Nonetheless, eggs were good and toast was good, too. Another family member got the hot sausage and it was getting less warm and very red inside so stopped eating out of precaution. Fries were super delicious though! Fresh cut fries are always good. Another family is not feeling well after our visit and it happened directly after eating so unsure what happened there, she got the western omelette but was the only one with a lemon in her tea, so assuming the lemon may have been tainted? Either way, she is ill.
All in all, just an unfortunately poor experience. They've been open for about 6 weeks now so hopefully can learn from this but just sucks that it was the...
Read moreStopped in for breakfast this morning and were met by very friendly folks. Enjoyed what I consider one of the best cups of coffee that I've had anywhere eating out. So much so that I asked what brand it was and was told Rich Coast - a Pennsylvania brand. Go figure! More breakfast joints should offer it.
I ordered one of their specials off the board - a breakfast quesadilla. Filled with choice of meat (I went with sausage), eggs, cheese, peppers and onions with salsa and sour cream on the side. It was delicious! And a good size. I brought half home.
Hubby got his usual favorite: sausage gravy over biscuits and a side of home fries. He said his meal was also very good.
Server very attentive. The chef even came over to see how everything was. How often does that happen? We were very appreciative.
Great breakfast and experience. Can't wait to go back (if for nothing else, that...
Read moreI called the Train Station Restaurant this morning to order a breakfast sandwich. After ordering, the gentleman said it would be ten minutes. I waited 15 minutes and went to pick it up. When I got there, he seen me walk in and went to cooking my order. Now I knew that the restaurant is under new ownership and have heard poor reviews. I found that hard to believe because I used to frequent this restaurant quite often, when the original owners were there. I will not be going back. If I wanted to wait for my order, I would've sat down and ordered and...
