So hereās an update on the āNew and improvedā Paulās Famous Hot Dogs. We frequent this establishment every now and then. When we pulled up on our bike we were greeted with a newly paved parking lot and exterior. I complimented the young staff behind the counter. I ordered 2 chili dogs and cheese fries. My husband ordered 2 chili and cheese dogs and plain fries. As I watched the two young girls prepare my food one girl picked up a squirt bottle filled with cold cheese spread. She started putting it on the french fries and I said āwhoa thatās enough cheese. That cheese isnāt even hot!ā She said āno we donāt use hot cheese.ā I said āsince when?ā She giggled and didnāt answer, she also put the cold cheese on my husbandās chili dogs. we went outside and sat down. Our hotdogs were barely lukewarm and of course the cold cheese on my french fries was pretty gross. You guys need to step it up. No one likes cold cheese out of a squirt bottle put on their french fries and their chili dog. These hotdogs were renowned throughout the area, but I must say I donāt think Iāll ever be back. I spoke to many of our friends who had the same experience. You need to cook it properly and your hotdogs need to be served hot and your buns need to be steamed. This is not the great food that used to be served there. āļø...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI don't know what's famous about these hot dogs
Anybody saying they're great need to go out more and try different hot dog venues
The hot dogs are either boiled or steamed very plain and it's the cheap hot dogs they're not all beef
You pay about $10 you get two hot dogs fries and a drink
If there are all beef hot dogs not a bad price but for cheap hot dogs it's extremely expensive
The fries were pretty good they seem to have like a light batter very crispy
A drink as a drink
I'm not local to this restaurant it didn't feel very welcoming
These reviews must be mostly from locals as there's real no competition in this area
I would not go back complete ripoff full plain hot dogs I expected all beef grilled fried not just steamed also expected the bread to be toasted or flavored since the sign says famous hot dogs still trying to figure out
If you're in the mood for hot dogs make them at home they'll be much better especially if all beef or try...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI'm 27 and I was born in Wilmington. Paul's Place is 10 minutes up the road from town (which is a long way to drive for a hot dog) but it is ALWAYS worth the drive (& always has been.) I remember being at Pauls Place when I was so young that I wouldn't visit a restroom without one of my parents. It's always been delicious, the price is always fair, and the staff friendly. I do not eat hot dogs often, and absolutely refuse to eat one if it's cooked at "home" (barbecue, backyard grill, boiled on stove, etc.) Not sure what brand they use but you won't find a better hot dog available for sale at the grocery store. They all make me feel like crap. Paul's Place dogs have never had that effect on me. Next time you're close by or craving a good hot dog, go to Pauls Place. Try one "all the way." It includes their amazing homemade relish that is available to purchase by the jar. And if you think "Trolley Stop" is good, you know nothing...
