It was my first time out to this restaurant. My teenage son wanted to go there for his birthday dinner. He had been there last year with a friend and their family. He mentioned how good the food was so that's where I took him. I wasn't sure about needing to make reservations or not, so I called 3 days prior to reserve a spot for a party of 10. The young lady who got my information confirmed we would have a booth and one table with four chairs next to it. I also mentioned possibly having 2 toddlers needing a booster seat. I was also told I could bring my own cake to celebrate there at the restaurant also. That was nice! On the evening of reservation, we were running a little late, as it took longer than 15 minutes to get out West. An employee called me to make sure we were coming. I said I just arrived. I wasn't sure where the entrance was because the building is under construction. Upon going inside, the waiter took us to 3 tables that were lined up. I said we were supposed to have a booth. There were booths available but we decided to sit there in the middle of the restaurant. There were only 8 of us instead of the initial plan for 10. The waiter was nice, gave us time to decide our order. He brought pitchers of lemonade as we all agreed on that beverage. Soon after, everyone ordered and things seemed to be ok. However it took almost an hour for the food to start coming out. They weren't busy with too many other customers. I noticed only about 5 other people dining in . It was late Sunday evening. One of my guests got the cheese curds. Those were yummy, she told the rest of us to try them. Once the dishes started coming out, we were eager to eat after the long wait. Four of us ordered the loaded fries. 3 of those plates were missing bacon, 2 didn't have the sauce and jalapeĂąos. Then after 7 plates were served, my young daughter didn't get her food. At that point I was a little irritated. The waiter said he thought we didn't order the chicken tender dinner. He apologized and got it cooked quickly. I decided to wait to eat my meal though so it got cold. While waiting we shared my fries. Those were good. About 10 more minutes went by then my daughter got her meal. At that point, all the rest of our party had already eaten. After having a few bites , I got containers to bring our food home. When it was time to pay my check of 160.00 dollars, I said I wasn't impressed with my first experience there , pointing out the mistakes from the start. The waiter said all he could give was a 10 percent discount. He apologized over and over about what happened. I told him it was ok, he wasn't solely responsible. The staff needs better communication in my opinion. I think I'll wait until construction is finished on the building before going back. I would like to give them another try and a better review...

It's been 4 years since I left my first review of Bowmans. In true small town style, change has a way of shifting local sentiment. So, I decided I'd dive into the negative reviews I saw pop up. Ha! Good news everyone, it would appear that Bowman's has in fact changed, and the food has managed to get better. Now, I have been a few times at various times during the week (to make sure I gave it a solid effort to recreate some of the complaints I have seen ..... and yes, it takes longer on Saturday night if it's slammed. But, the food is worth the wait.
Sometimes you have to consider the ambiance, the preferred pace of your life, and ask if you'd rather be in the peaceful desert having prime rib and watching a spring storm roll in..... or hustling back to the city to sit at a stop light.
So, rest easy my foodie followers- Bowmans will take care of you - and I suggest you order a Mae West burger (It's not on the menu....and I 100% made it up..... but if you order a Western Burger with jalepeno poppers on it..........) your life will be forever changed.
Updated some pictures for you all! Get out there.....take a deep breath..... and enjoy the best burger and best campfire steak in Cedar City.
If you're going to have a family meal, it should be in a place where people are laughing, talking, enjoying themselves, and consuming huge portions of deliciousness. We had a diverse menu selection, anything from steak to chicken parmesan.....no one was disappointed in the least. The service was tremendous and the complimentary corn bread pushed this home town cowboy kitchen over the top. Warm service and hot meals. Thank you!! We will be...
Read moreMy wife and I got the cowboy poutine, I think it's called, with the chicken fried steak. The waitress attended to us briefly, enough to take orders and deliver the food but after the food being delivered she didn't come back to check in with us, which is a shame because a few bites in my wife got a big chunk of rotten potatoe and stopped eating. Despite the fact that almost the entirety of the plate was left uneaten because of the rotten food in the mix, we were still charged for it, because why not charge your Ur customers for things they won't eat because of your own oversight right? After around 15-20 minutes of telegraphing that we were done the waitress finally came back over so we told her about the rotten food. Her reaction was something to the effect of "oh... So just one box?" the meal had obviously been barely touched but she decided "meal barely eaten, rotten food, nah we'll just charge you for that whole thing." my wife did the math, she may have given ten percent off the whole meal, but to be frank you shouldn't charge a customer for a meal they didnt eat when the reason they didn't eat it is because you let rotten food slip through the cracks.
Our previous experiences there have been pretty mid and this one was just awful.
Also FYI four, cold, quarter-sized mini muffins on a plate does not constitute a "cornbread basket" and if y'all actually charge six bucks for that, that's...
