Silver Silo Bakery & Espresso — Restaurant in Cedar City

If you're an out-of-towner that doesn't fit "the profile" then don't expect to be treated with a warm welcome. I decided to grab a breakfast pastry and a coffee here with my 11 yr. old daughter on the way to our softball tournament. We were wearing our Las Vegas Vipers softball uniforms. I'm a white guy and have a beard, my daughter is half Filipino and has long dark brown hair. It was just the two of us together. I guess that was enough to offend the woman behind the counter. I approached with friendly conversation: "Hi, how are you? How is your day going?" only to be responded to in the most curt and uncomfortable way that I've ever experienced in any establishment ever. She responded with "Fine. What is your order?" I asked for the Silo Cake. "We don't have that." I asked for the lemon cake instead, "Fine." I completed my order with a latte for myself and a crème brulee for my daughter. The woman told me the amount, asked my name for the order, and nothing else. All the while she completely averted any eye contact with either my daughter or myself, and showed active disdain towards us. When the food was ready, my name was called out over the speaker and I walked up to find a tray on the counter to collect it. There was zero acknowledgement from anyone behind the counter. To top it off, the food was mediocre at best. The lemon cake was burnt around the outside. It was obvious that we did not fit the mold of anyone in the establishment; neither the employees nor the guests. It was one of the most uncomfortable experiences I've had, and I was saddened that my daughter had to experience it with me. I wish there would have been a clear indication outside the establishment that communicated their desire to avoid people that were different from them. It would have saved us all a ton of...

This place is a real gem. Healthy, fresh home baked food. Was worried when we kept driving across town. Loved the view and how they designed this lovely place. What a country dream. I enjoyed being able to sit outside in cute little red silos. They also allow Service dogs. Got our coffee headed up the canyon. When we stopped to look at view. I looked this place up again and read thier history. Thier story really grabbed my attention that this family had a dream and they made it come true. Impressive!! My friend is a health nut(In a good way) when I read their story and told him about it we decided to go back and eat. It was so worth it. I got Jim's Favorite Panine, The Apple Crisp and Lemon cake. The Panine with the combo of the cheese, Turkey, cranberries was delicious The apple Crisp reminded me of the old good days of elementary school, so it was delicious. At first I was surprised that the lemon cake didn't pop with the yellow color. That is when I realized it was because it was made with no coloring or preservatives. Absolutely love this place. My wife and I stopped into cedar city to visit my parents, and noticed this extremely cute building on our way to Walmart, and just knew we had to try it.

Looking online, their website was easy to navigate and extremely well done. Easy to find the menu and pick out exactly what we wanted, which made going in so much better! Gave us time to really enjoy the decor. LOVE the art all over the walls. You'll seriously want to buy every piece.

The food!! Can't even tell you how impressed I was! We got spudnuts and a sweetroll. I want to try everything now though. The lunch and dinner menu looked amazing!

The staff was so so friendly. 10/10 would just eat there because of them. If everything else was terrible, the way they treated my wife and I when we walked in was just astounding. I've seldom felt so welcomed. Most food establishments have an air of fake excitement. They want you to buy your food and leave. Not here. Truly felt welcoming and friendly, like a warm fire lit cabin on a cold winters day.
