I wish I could give a few more stars, but as a new restaurant, they have a few things to work out.
There's a lot to say of The Pizza Pub, especially for an area rather slim on updated places to eat out (small town, yes, growing, yes, could use more....yes). But this place has major potential.
Went with a group of 11 for my nephews 3rd birthday, and will admit for fluid service, we could have been more organized ourselves. Nonetheless, service staff needs some direction from management to make everyone's experience more positive.
Our server Brooke was amazing and graceful while we socialized and dined, and for the level of business that night, she handled our large group very well with a sincerely happy demeanor the entire time, I applaud her.
That being said, I recommend aprons that can hold a server book at all times so the staff can WRITE DOWN ALL orders (this is Center City, you're not above writing orders down), not just when they have a pad in their hands for the main order. Several food orders were not placed, and asking for a few rounds of drinks during the meal (2 waters, a glass of ice, a Diet Coke, and a cocktail) were finally received in about 3 trips (also happened with extra sauces we asked for after food arrived). Maybe I missed it, but I also didn't see one staff member with a tray while I was there. Please get your staff some trays (if I'm wrong, sorry, but in that case you need to start getting them to use them)
I will also say the remodel/design/decor of the building is amazing for the environment they are trying to give (I.e. family friendly sports bar with pizzas starring the menu). Far beyond what many could imagine the 'Porterhouse' becoming, I know I was blown away.
The food was pretty awesome with a welcomed chain like menu (think apps, salads, burger/sandwiches/wraps, pizza of course, and select entrees available) but most certainly with their own personal and inventive twists of items. Definitely unique to the area. I was also VERY happy they have Gluten Free pizza, which was great in my books. Very disappointed all their tortilla options were flour (can I get some corn chip nachos please?!? Seriously, you open your menu to a lot more people...meaning YOU could make more money, and no one would care less in that scenario...most nachos are made with corn chips...c'mon!).
I would certainly go back and I know it takes time to work out quirks in a new restaurant. In the end, I have a lot of hope...
Read moreThis place is another of my wife's favorite. She absolutely loves their pizza, I do too - when we are not ordering it a couple times or more during a week. Last night, we decided to go there for dinner. Got there about 5:30pm. The place was packed. Luckily, we were able to get a table almost right away. She ordered a pop, mini corn dogs and pizza(half Hawaiian, half sausage) and I got a long island, pub fries with sour cream, and super nachos for my main course. The long island wasn't the best - I understand that not everyone knows how to make it how it's supposed to be made so I don't blame them. The corn dogs and fries were good - I was very slightly disappointed with my friend because the description on the menu said the pub fries were seasoned and they were not. I did like their seasoned sour cream. They brought my nachos out along with the other apps because I forgot to ask them to hold it for the main course, so I started eating. As I began to eat, I noticed that there wasn't much queso on there, I had huge pieces of lettuce and the shredded cheese on top was cold. As I continued eating it, I liked it even lesser. About 85% of my nachos were crispy, which is usually good, but in this case it was because there wasn't much queso in the dish. I didn't say anything because I'm the kind of person that won't return food to the kitchen unless something is horribly wrong with it. I kept poking at my nachos while we waited for the pizza. We probably waited for an hour before her pizza came. We had a great server - he kept checking on us the whole time and giving us updates about her pizza. Towards the end, she just wanted to leave and so asked the server to make the pizza to go. I understand that it was rush hour and that the restaurant was packed, so there would be some delay. But an hour?!?! It didn't help that they continued taking online orders, which backed them up further. It may be hard to predict but maybe have limited times for takeout on your busiest days so that you can service your guests in the restaurant in a timely manner? It wasn't just us, there were a few tables that were just sitting and waiting for their food. Our pizza arrived, we paid and left.
Don't get me wrong, this is a good establishment, but I probably won't visit again when...
Read morePizza pub was a family favorite. We took trips here once and sometimes twice a week, great service, great food and an enjoyable environment. Unfortunatly we had a bad experience, not just bad service, but horrible service, waitress was not there, it took 30 minutes to get our drinks, another 40 to get our salads, and then another 25 to get our uncooked still cold pizza. When our pizza arrived it was tossed onto our table carelessly, knocking gown a pepper shaker and before the pizza hit the table she was half turned around saying sorry we have to prebake this pizza, even though it was still doughy, and cold. Both of us got sick from this. Oh well being a waitress I get bad nights, and I can get over a bad pizza, a long wait time and empty drink cups. My concern is lack of good customer service by our waitress and here is the big irritation. I called and asked for a manager, they said the manager is on vacation, took my name and number and said I’d get a call, they suggested Facebook messenging the pizza pub Facebook page as the owner of pizza pub takes car of that and I might get a phone call sooner that way. So I did that too, just stating that I had a concern and wouldn’t mind talking about it as I’d consider is loyal and regular customers, left my number. No call, no response however I could clearly see my messages had been viewed. I got crickets..... a month later I messaged again, explaining our frequent visits, and our unfortunate experience, and stated that since we couldn’t get a call back they are showing that we as customers are nothing but a pocket book..... again crickets. So my family if 6 have made the unfortunate decision to be done with pizza pub and share our bad experience. The most upsetting part of this is lack of willingness to reach out and show good customer service.... even when your customers pay for good food and end up sick from...
