I did my homework by reading the reviews before I took a friend for her birthday outing. Then I said I better see for myself. Our first time here and boy was I glad we went! Soon as we walked in, we both felt the Christmas holiday vibe. The decor, the warmth, happy people enjoying the crowds, and acoustic live music flowing from the background to the front entryway. It brought smiles to both of our spirits. We looked at each other like...šŸ˜€ man! We sat waiting for seats only for a few minutes. It gave us time to people watch and get settled in. A friendly waitress escorted us to our seats. I requested a lakeview which she quickly responded, "Sure, follow me." This is getting better and better. The view and atmosphere both elevated this experience to level 10! Okay, skipping to the food and service. Tyler was fast with decision making and fast on his feet! I was uncertain about what I wanted to order but he was like a tour guide on a cruise ship. He knew exactly where to take my taste buds! I had salmon with two side sauces he recommended with roasted green beans and delicious garlic mashed potatoes. Super-YUM!! My goodness!! "Pleased"... was not the best description! My birthday friend said, "These are the best scallops I ever had! I tasted them and discovered why.... and I don't eat scallops. Scrumptious to the palate.... nothing more to be said! šŸ‘‹šŸ¼šŸ˜©šŸ¤£Almost done with our meals, I asked for the manager to come over. Those around us could have easily assumed there was a problem. Quite the opposite. Alex W, appeared and stayed for while to chat with us. It didn't feel like he was at work or in a hurry to hear why we requested his presence but just a friendly fella who was patient and open to have a chat. I'm not ashamed to say that we enjoyed the environment so much we were the last ones to leave that back room. On the way out, Alex was near the bar and took it upon himself to walk us to the front. He paused to write his number on his card and we left out after a smile and a handshake. It wasn't my birthday but it certainly did feel like it. I'm still smiling about that experience hours later. Yes, Lighthouse Restaurant, you.... did..... your.... thing and beyond! Oh yeah, after reading the reviews I expected this to be a pretty hearty price for the meal. I was honestly shocked when the bill was less than what we both expected. We will be back and soon! Thank you Tyler and Alex so much for helping me and my birthday friend feel special! šŸ¤— Brian Thompson, Founder, Chief Wellness Innovator BNEW4LIFE. (They...

My daughter and I dined at the Lighthouse Restaurant on July 22, 2023. This is definitely a place that trumps some of the places I usually dine at near Chicago. This place is definitely worth a visit. Our server was exceptional. She was very versed on the wine menu and also very attentive, without being a nuisance. The decor and ambiance of The Lighthouse were both Zen and romantic. I found myself totally relaxed and able to enjoy our experience from start to finish. This was a very special Mother Daughter dinner, as I drove an hour to take my daughter to dinner because she is a new Mom and deserves to be pampered. They absolutely did not disappoint. From the hostess and her professional demeanor to the food delivery, bus boy, to the food cooked to perfection, this place yielded a spot for a RAVE REVIEW! We ordered the steak filet Diane with garlic mashed potatoes side and the Blackened Seabass dinner. The Seabass is a bit spicy with the pepper, so if spice bothers you, you may ask for less or order something else. The bean soup was very tasty, the brisket in it was a bit fatty. We paired our dinner with a chocolate martini. Our reservation was for 6:15. It turned out perfectly to eat inside and make it outside to catch the sunset and music! A+++ 10 stars 🌟 a choice restaurant that we will brag about to anyone we know. Thank you to Lighthouse for helping me bring a smile to my Daughters face and warming my heart!! We dressed up. I did not witness jeans or the such. Dress classy, and something to stay warm if you get cold in the night air outside or walk the dock at sunset! We did see very well-behaved tween age eating quietly, Kid friendly families were in an area away from no kid tables, I loved that!!! Make a reservation and ask to be away from children if you prefer. Two house managers came by to see we were happy. If course we were! The bar looks very nice, and the outside is a great photo opportunity. You can walk all the way down the end of the dock and watch boats, jet skis, sunsets, and hear the waves. We got some beautiful photos together and took some for an entire family! The man playing the music outside was exceptional, and a wedding on the top floor could be seen from outside as they stood on the veranda. This place is breathtaking at sunset. Perfect place for...

Terribly disappointing experience. We typically only visit the Lighthouse to celebrate special occasions because of it's reputation and hefty price tag. This time, we decided to order our meal to go in order to enjoy a very rare kid-free date night at home - our first in about six months. What was supposed to be a relaxing, celebratory meal turned into a frustrating and disappointing ordeal.

First, I had ordered the French onion soups as an appetizer and they were missing entirely. I had to call to get this resolved, which wasted time on an already limited evening. To make matters worse, when I went to eat my main course, I noticed it was the completely wrong order. I had ordered the Cajun Shrimp Pasta and was given the Cajun Chicken Pasta and had an add'l note to add fried shrimp. I do not like chicken and, to make matters worse, I was charged for an additional $10 dollars for the fried shrimp. How does such a renowned establishment get an order so thoroughly wrong?

This wasn't just a simple mix-up; it felt careless and inattentive. For a restaurant that prides itself on quality and charges premium prices, this level of service is inexcusable. Instead of a stress-free celebration, I was left disappointed and having to call back twice and speak to a manager to fix mistakes.

I want to preface that the manager refunded the soups and my pasta and they said they would be sending a gift card in my email. But, I don't care about the money. I care about the time I lost calling twice, not having my own meal to enjoy, driving to pick up the order and the extreme disappointment I felt after looking forward to a kid-free date night with my husband for months and food I had been wanting for months for it to be messed up.

Sadly, The Lighthouse has completely tarnished our view of them, and I doubt we'll return for any occasion going forward. If you can't get a pick up order right, how can anyone trust the rest of your...

On November 1, 2025, I had mine and my husband’s 50th wedding anniversary party at The Lighthouse. I started planning it a year ago, when we had our 49th anniversary dinner there (one of many over the years). I signed the contract and started the planning with Lauren. Unbeknownst to me at the time, after planning with Lauren, the restaurant had changed management and I resumed planning the Sarah O’Reilly. Sarah was helpful and kind, had wonderful suggestions and listened and responded to every call and email. I had originally booked the smaller banquet room thinking my guest count would be less than 60, when it went to 75 (64 was the finally yes count), she said that even at 60, the smaller room might be tight but that the bigger room was available and she moved me to that room. My husband and I met with Sarah in the venue and went over table placement, cake placement options and finalized my menu choices. Working with Sarah was a wonderful experience, and I will miss it! The meals were perfectly cooked and presented with all my guests raving at them. We had the 8oz filet, the chicken piccata and the macadamia crusted walleye. We also had 8 children’s meals and those were also delicious. We also had one gluten free meal and it was also perfect. The wait staff and bartender were attentive, friendly and always had a smile on their faces. Renee, the head server was there meeting all of our needs, sometimes even before I knew I needed them! The bottom line is that our 50th wedding anniversary was a triumph. I can’t thank The Lighthouse Restaurant, Sarah, Renee and her staff and the bartender enough. I apologize for not getting all the names, especially the bartender because she was wonderful. Well done.

This restaurant used to be my very favorite place to eat. The atmosphere is amazing. The service is usually on point and the food was always great. They keep changing the menu and not always for the better. Went there recently to sit outside and there were 14 tables open and told us it was going to be a 45 minute wait. They made lots of excuses which made no sense including one of them that they were wanting to cut staff and send them home. Why bother having all that room all those tables and that staff already there if you don’t want to actually have any customers. This is the third time this has happened, it’s growing increasingly frustrating every single time. I know I’ll give it another try but not sure how many more if this keeps happening. Although I have not changed my views on how they handle things outside, I have been back a few times recently and food seems to be back to normal portion sizes and food was delish. Kelli is the most awesome server they have, I'd highly recommend asking for her if possible. And always stop at the bar and see Brittany! She makes the absolute best martinis! Yes, my review is dated, because I made it the day I was there on the patio. I did however update my review the other day because I was back and had a good experience, so I wanted to make sure I noted the good as well. The exterior experience could not be updated though, because as you said, it has been closed for 7 months. I'll be sure to update again if I have a better experience outside.
