Before my review I want to point out one detail; lose the tablets / digital cocktail menu & small pleather placemats.
I had high hopes for Stab's. I travel often to Houston, New York, Chicago, Linden, Atlanta, Dallas etc. I am fortunate to enjoy nice restaurants and great food while entertaining guest from my industry. My personal friends have been talking this restaurant up for years.
The truth is, Stab's is an EXCELLENT local restaurant. This is what I expect in the Baton Rouge area for the price. Go, have a great time & enjoy it.
BUT
It doesn't compare to the usual fine dining found in some of the best cities across the states.
I treated this spot like I would any 5 to 7 course restaurant. Paced with drinks on arrival, spaced appetizers ordered soups and salads before the entrees followed with desserts and drinks.
Service was good & expected. A little slow at some points but I believe our pace was unfamiliar to the staff as I watched tables sit, eat & leave similar to any other restaurant. I did watch our waitress take time behind the bar to make our drinks rather than wait on the bar staff. (A+ drinks). To our server's credit she brought our ticket with about 7 others in her hand.
Food was satisfactory. Spring Rolls were delicious, oysters were OK, Ceaser perfect, Wedge Amazing, Redfish w/lump crab was cold & a little past the point I would serve fresh fish, macaroni was nothing special. My 9oz filet was overcooked - requested medium rare and received medium well. The filet was still the best thing on the table. Bananas Foster was extremely high in alcohol content. I highly recommend the chocolate chip cookie skillet.
Drinks were amazing. All of them. Blood Orange Old Fashioned, Dressed Up Old Fashioned, Moscow Mule, Bloody Mary, and some other bubbly drink my wife enjoyed.
We will gladly try...

Bloody mary Seafood Beignets Gumbo Seabass w/ asparagus 12 oz filet mignon
Servers: Alex and Johnathan
This was our first time here. Theres a sign on the door "Proper attire required". I saw people wearing shorts and flip flops so no worries, guess I wasn't the worst dressed lol.
Bloody mary- The server told us the drink would come garnished with some traditional veggies... it can put with 1 lemon and 1 lime on the rim of the glass.
Seafood beignets nothing special - should be renamed seafood huss puppies
Gumbo has good amount of seafood, taste-left more to be desired but not bad.
Seabass was cooked well, but portion size is lacking maybe a size of a small avacado , 38 bucks... looked like they served 4 to maybe 6 oz 3 bites and I was devoured.
Filet mignon was cooked a little below temperature (medium rare) , however it was served on a hot skillet plate, so you were able to warm the meat up a little more. Meat was tender and soft.
Servers - i did get 1 refills of ice tea, and we asked for tabasco and steak sauce. We got both, but the bottle of tabasco... if I was the server, I would have been ashamed to have brought out a damn near empty bottle of tabasco sauce to a table and expect a tip.
Yes out of guilt of a $139 bill I left roughly 20+ bucks.
I'm writing this after being awaken from my stomach growling from hunger. I wanted to leave a lower review but figured I'd be cordial.
The table next to use seemed to have very good service and a lesson on wine and the temperature at which it's best served. At least I learned...
Read moreVisited here last night to celebrate a family’s members anniversary. We had a party of 6 and called ahead to make a reservation to which they told us the patio was our only option. When we arrived the place was empty and there were about 20 waiters/waitresses standing around the bar talking amounts themselves. All teenagers. Our waiter was trying to be familiar but she made jokes about our deceased family member. Totally unacceptable. Another member of the family ordered a $65 dollar steak. Which was ROTTEN. Smelled awful and unfortunately he had taken a bite before we realized the smell was not the seafood next to him. Our waiter was impossible to get her attention. She was busy talking with her friends behind a bar. She was just fake and unenjoyable. The manager/owner was kind, however shouldve of overseen our bill. They charged us for both the Rotten steak AND the alternative dish that was ordered. Not only that but the waiter who was aware of the occasion and was told deliberately to not accept payment from the older women whose anniversary it was and that she would be the one paying did indeed take the elderly women’s card. Charged for both items. And it was included gratuity. She made $55 for doing nothing accept screwing up and being disrespectful. She even had the male waiters come out and refill our waters and take our plates. Weird. She spoke down to the two young adults with us, whom were probably her age. Extremely dissatisfied. And this is the right location i am writing a review on i double checked. Beware. Payed near $400 for a...
