Doc's Riverside Grille — Restaurant in Centreville

We were on our way home down 301 and wanted a bite to eat that wasn't fast food. We stumbled upon Docs in a small side town and decided to give it a try. The restaurant itself is a really cool place, it has a dining side, separate bar side with high tops and an outdoor seating area as well. We sat at the bar and were quickly given menus and a drink. The menu has a great selection of apps and sandwiches, it was honestly tough to decide what to get because it all sounded great. We started with seafood soup which had a very rich flavor that was not just Old Bay and a side caesar salad which was large and tasty. Ultimately we got the Short Rib Grilled Cheese and Hot Honey Chicken sandwich. Both were tasty, the grilled cheese needed more cheese and horsey sauce but it was still good, the chicken sandwich was everything to be expected and very fresh. I'm so glad we said yes to the house made potato chips that come as a side, they were on point and delicious....we had to get a box to stop ourselves from eating them all! The service was good, I asked for a small alteration of the chicken sandwich and they were happy to oblige. We were in and out within an hour and definitely will be returning to try more...

I'm not here to disrespect this business. But to only offer my opinion.

I have always loved to Dine in and or Takeout food from this place. However, they offer a Carry Out Service in which they Turn on/off at any given moment. This is frustrating when we would love to have a bit more consistency when ready to make our choice on where we want to eat. There's nothing like going online to their (App) and it saying "Not taking Takeout Orders". Or calling in to be told to call back later to see if they are taking carry out orders. And just today was told. "If I wanted to go somewhere else that was fine as they where not sure when they were going to start taking carry outs for this day!.

Blows my mind...... It's should be You Do or Don't offer a Takeout Service. I would of been more happy to been told that it could take a little longer then normal because they are busy, rather then, "I could go somewhere else".

Food 5 🌟 Quality of Atmosphere 5 🌟 Service Quality 2 🌟 after today's encounter.

I might be looking at other options in the future.

My friend and i were hungry from hiking and this place was what we were looking for on a Sunday afternoon.

We wanted fish.

Atmosphere was good. It was a Sunday after church so I figured it would be busy but we got sat immediately and took about 7 minutes when we ordered and another 15 minutes before the food, which how busy it was, that wasn't that bad.

I had the fish and chips with a side of onion rings. The chips were delicious with barbecue sauce. They did not over salt their fries which I love. The onion rings were breaded well with good flavor. The only thing that really disappointed me was the fish. It was breaded cod fish that I've had numerous occasions at other restaurants and by far this was the worst one I've had. It was chewy and not flakey like I expected. There was absolutely no flavor to the breading. I was given no tarter sauce or lemons to squeeze. Luckily I got a lemon in my water to squeeze on top to give it more flavor.

Overall I would come here again. Just not order the...
