TL;DR: Be adventurous, the Cubana Torta was amazing. My father-in-law works in town and brought me here while we were visiting them. It was a delight. I had a little trouble deciding what to try. My go-to since I've become aware of it is Birria de Res but my eye fell on the torta section and I've the last place I tried one at has left a craving in my soul for more. I asked the waitress for a recommendation when I was torn between the Cubana Torta AAnd the Especial Torta (chicken or beef). And she answered emphatically that I should choose the Cubana as if the difference was a $1 bill or $20. (For this uninitiated, I've included a picture with this review. But torta's are a Mexican sandwich) When it arrived I quickly realized that though chickena nd cheese may be oft called the Heartland Special, the Cubana Torta is a Heartland Dream if you can wrap your mind around it (I was apprehensive at first myself at the intimidating list of what comes on it). Milanesa (lightly breaded and fried chicken or beef), a grilled pineapple slice or two, two fries eggs, avocado, hot dogs, etc. it's not overly greasy, but its greasy enough 😋 My drink never ran below half full. Food was timely if not quick, and nothing was wrong with it. Service was consistent with a smile.

Decent flavor. Still haven't found any Mexican restaurant that can compete with back home. It's been very americanized as far as flavor and set up goes. It's just taco meat in it. Like every other restaurant in this state. None of them offer the good steak burritos or steak chimichangas like back home. If you find one here that offers steak, it's liberally a giant steak sliced up. Back home it was small skirt steaks chopped up into tiny bites.....not 6 slices of steak.

I always enjoy eating at Don Carlos. The food is tasty and the service is great. The street tacos I ordered were exceptional! The presentation was incredible too. The chips are thin and crispy but strong enough to hold queso without breaking.

Staff lied. We been going there since they open and order soft taco with ground beef, lettuce and cheese. They brought meat with tomatoes and onions. Then said that they alwaysdone that. We explained we been gking there a long time and it never happen. This was 40 minutes before closing. We said its not on the menu about the tomatoes. The guy was like we offered chicken or. Steak for 3.00 a taco. It was awful. It been better if they just said thats all we haveand gave us something else instaed of trying to lie and keep charging for them not having any regular taco meat. Will not...

Great what I'm assuming is home made hot sauce, not super spicy but not mild, you definitely need to try. Easily best food was the chicken tacos. Not sure how they seasoned the chicken, but they stood out really great compared to the beef and steak which were pretty dull in comparison, also the corn tortillas were kinda soggy. They were out of the hot wings and apparently had been for some time according to the waiter. They were clearly understaffed, but were actually surprisingly fast with the food. The beef nachos were good, though pretty average compared to most Mexican...
