I dislike blt's with a passion but this place is a magnificent exception! Most places I see a BLT on the menu and don't pay it any mind. I love not just the flavor of meats on a sandwich but I like it to be the diva on my sandwich and not just Kevin Federline along with the lettuce and tomato. Merritt's is the only place I have ever seen that puts so much bacon on a BLT that there's no mistaking it for simply being a lettuce and tomato sandwich with a strip or two of something that could possibly pass for bacon if I disassemble the disappointing poor thing. A friend had chosen this place for lunch and when we pulled up to a full house I said to myself, great a hipster place...again. I thought I was in store for kale sandwiches and hummus but it couldn't be further from the truth. We walked in the door and were completely lost. There were 2 lines. Where do we order?!! Apparently an employee going on break saw us on her way out and told us to order on the left, pay at the front, then pick up our food on the right side of the left line. She was super nice and we did appreciate the help. I hate walking in somewhere and being overwhelmed with a sense of being lost and confused. Now let's get back to this God almighty BLT. So originally I had no idea what I would be ordering, then I saw a gentleman walking back to his table with a behemoth of a sandwich chocked full of bacon! I say "I gotta get me one of those!" Upon inspecting the menu, that is their signature sandwich, they had a single, double, and triple BLT. So you knowing me, yea I ordered the double just to tip a toe in to test the holy waters. My friends ordered the chicken sandwich and the club. We always share so I got to try all 3. The double BLT was generous to my palette and deep within my soul. I had to constantly remind myself to chew rather than inhale the masterpiece. The perfect blend of salty sweet meats with lettuce and tomatoes complementing each bite. Truly they were nice ripe slices of tomato and crisp lettuce but never stole the show from good ole bacon. I loved that bacon so much...until we met again. Now the quarter of chicken salad sandwich and quarter of the club from my friends were both really great. I enjoyed both samplers. Merritt's is no one trick pony. Every consumable that came into contact with my mouth was quite delectable and I will never forget that day. I will...
Read moreCame here on Wednesday to get my fiance & I breakfast. He went n and ordered a bacon, sausage & egg.. (no mayo, no cheese) sandwich & a bacon eggs sausage and cheese with onions.. well he came out with the order the first time and it was wrong the first sandwich still added cheese and mayo. So he took it back n to be fixed, welp he come back from (supposedly) getting it fixed and it was wrong again. This time they had bacon and egg with NO SAUSAGE.. so I took it back in and let the know that it was wrong once again, and elder woman approaches me and immediately jumps into my conversation while I'm trying to sort things out with the cashier. (She was short, dark brown hair, maybe (50s -60 ur old) with a veryyyyy NASTY ATTITUDE... Telling me oh well, he said take the sausage off! (Y would we tell u to take off the sausage that we're paying for) lol that doesn't make sense! So another woman came from the back and apologized about the food, offered a complimentary banana pudding and agreed to refund me for the for being wrong twice! I said ok. And she told me that she'd still have the fix it right...WELPPPPP once again they failed! I got to the car and the sandwich was, bacon, sausage eggs, onions and cheese.! Smfh.. I don't know if it was a comprehension problem with the cooks or someone just plain out couldn't read, or maybe they just simply didn't care!. I just left and fed the food to the birds at the lake. Thanks for messing up my good morning & lying to me about my refund.. u still charged my card & jacked my food up three times.. I will not be returning! Your staff need training on customer service and your cooks need freshen up on...
Read moreI’ve been going to Merritt’s for years. I moved in right up the street in 2005. The food has its ups and downs. I’m guessing it has something to do with managers. Some have been excellent with amazing food. Now is not that time. I have ordered food at least three times from them during the pandemic. Two of those times it went smoothly, today was not one of those times. My friend ordered and was not given the option to pay online (the previous times I’ve ordered online I have been given that option). We arrived when the text went out notifying us the order was ready. There is no rhyme or reason to the pick up order. Just a bunch of people standing around trying to figure out what’s going on. Then, when you get a staff member’s attention, that person brings out your food and then takes your credit card or cash and has to go back inside to run the card or get change. It’s a giant cluster. Seems to me Merritt’s could take a lesson from Al’s Burger Shack in Southern Village (I mean, he did used to manage Merritt’s back in the day). Their order and pickup is so simple and efficient. I hate to say it but if Merritt’s doesn’t get it together soon they are going to run themselves in to the ground. After all that, we sat down to eat our BLTs and they were just so-so. Definitely nothing to write home about. They were not seasoned very well, the bacon was lacking and both my friend and I looked at each other with sadness in our eyes. The BLTs are not cheap, either. I must admit, it’s going to take me a bit to go back. Hopefully they will get their act...
