Awesome Apple Crisp LLC — Restaurant in Chaplin

We discovered Awesome Apple Crisp in the Summer of 2023 when it caught our eye driving by. We actually immediately turned around and stopped! We discovered that they serve the fairs around CT during fair season and we were so sad we had to wait for Spring of 2024 to return to their regular established location. Well, they're baaack!!!

First and foremost, any prospective visitors should know that YES, it's worth the journey! There are several big name stores nearby to make this a nice little daytrip visit! They are located on the corner of 31 Lynch Road in Chaplin, seen from the main road.

Though this is an outdoor establishment, it is EXTREMELY well kept. I will further elaborate by stating that this means a few key factors: • The lot is kept mowed down neatly and kept clean. • The tables are always clean. • The garbage can that is provided is also kept clean and emptied. • The portapotty that is provided is kept in immaculate condition - better than most indoor long-established franchises - not even kidding a little.

Atmosphere: For seating, there are tables with seating and umbrellas available separate of the several picnic tables under a large canopy. They keep their tables and seating CLEAN and in excellent condition. It is nice and comfortable.

For parking, the parking lot is a small dirt and gravel lot. There has always been parking available when we visit.

The lot is impeccably kept.

Their apple crisp is out of this world! I am in my upper 40's and have attended my fair share of events and fairs that serve apple crisp, and this is by far the best. It is served warm with vanilla ice cream (and they don't skimp on the crisp or the ice cream). The typical toppings are caramel, whipped cream, and a cherry (though you can request no cherry, whipped cream, etc.) The flavor and texture is absolutely perfect and delicious. Did I mention their crisp is handsdown the best you will find?!!

But wait....there's more....do you prefer blueberries??? Yep, you guessed it: they also offer blueberry crisp! It is just as good as the apple, though I realize this is also preference-based (example: I'm not a blueberry person per se, but their blueberry crisp IS DELICIOUS!)

Aside of the crisps, they also offer a variety of drinks.

About the people that serve you: The owners. The owners of this little apple crisp establishment care immensely about their business and their customers, and it shows. The owners are also some of the nicest people you will ever meet. They always greet you with big smiles. They always ask how you are doing, and they are truly the nicest people to talk to. They are genuine people. I love being able to write good reviews about good people because the fact is they're getting harder and harder to find.

This stand has 2 options; apple crisp and blueberry crisp (or perhaps blueberry cobbler?). They are offered in one size for $8. You get a hearty slice with the option for ice cream and other toppings. I tried the apple crisp, which has a nice crumbly and sweet crust. This crust wasn't dense with butter which often times prevents the crust from getting crunchy. The apple filling was more tart than it was sweet and didn't have much of the viscous "slimey" filling you often see in fruit desserts. A moderately skilled baker could yield similar product in my opinion. Very friendly service - no complaints there. This stand is run by the absolute sweetest older gentleman. He was super helpful when trying to decide which apple crisp to get as the aroma from the truck filled the air and all of the pictures on the side of the truck made everything look delicious. I went with their classic $10 special which included a very generous slice of warm apple crisp with two heaping scoops of vanilla ice cream and extra caramel, I opted not to get the cherry on top but I’m sure it would have been just as delicious with it.
