For being a local, you'd think we'd have stopped in already, but we previously sucked and have only now rectified the situation. Shouldn't have waited, either. We went for brunch shortly after they opened on St. Paddy's Day with some family that was in town for the weekend.
Beautiful location, beautiful and cozy venue, and the food was excellent (breakfast burrito, ham and eggs, and sausage gravy and biscuits were had). All hot, all fresh, all delicious and cooked as requested. Portions were perfect (and made for a few leftovers we took home for later).
They only had one hostess, and it seems like everyone decided to show up all at once. So service was a little slow to start, the poor woman was busier than a one-legged man in an @$$ kicking contest! Regardless, she kept in touch with EVERYONE, got everyone's order in and to the tables, kept coffee refilled, condiments coming and checking in without being annoying, and never left you wondering where she went (seriously, she was amazing and that's a ton of work!).
The only down side is almost a silly one. The acoustics; the inside's got an echo and with half the tables full and a number of children, it was kind of loud at times. Not terrible or any reason not to go, and I'm looking forward to some warmer weather to sit outside and gove some of their other meals and...
Read moreI recently took my children to the Mountain Lake Club in Harpers Ferry for a day at the beach, and we had a wonderful time! It was a hot day and the lake was so cool and clean. My girls enjoyed the water with their floats, and built a sand castle on the beach. We all ate at the grill – hamburgers, hot dogs, and homemade brownies. Good food and it’s reasonably priced! The place is a mini-paradise – thank goodness its now open to the public. /Next time I am going to rent a boat – maybe have a party on the pontoon boat in the middle of the lake. It was obvious that the owners love the place – the landscaping is beautiful, everything is well cared for and the clubhouse is so inviting. We were greeted with friendly smiles and welcomes, and felt like we were very special people. We sat on the deck overlooking the garden and the lake as we ate lunch, and watched the geese swim by. The place is very special – and so close to Leesburg where I live. I don’t know of any other place so near where we can have so much fun! Keep up...
Read moreThe employees at this beach were incredibly rude and disrespectful. There was a significant amount of feces scattered about, which was extremely unpleasant. One employee approached us and rudely informed us that we couldn't drink our own beer unless we purchased it on the premises. We complied and returned the beer to our cooler. However, we noticed that the employee was then with his friends who were drinking obvious non-purchased drinks. It felt like he was targeting us unfairly. Afterward, the employee returned with a manager and accused our entire group of people of lying, claiming that we were told to leave with our coolers, which was never communicated to us. The employee proceeded to touch and grab our belongings, causing a scene. Feeling disrespected and frustrated, we decided to leave. To our dismay, the employee followed us in his car for approximately 8 minutes. This entire experience was unacceptable and tarnished our day at the beach. We will not be returning with our friends and family...
