Surprisingly casual, Sly Fox Den Too is an indigenous restaurant run by a Narragansett woman who won the James Beard award. Going in, I expected the atmosphere and prices to reflect that, but I was pleasantly surprised with a more laid back vibe and very affordable prices. I loved the outdoor seating area, and would have really enjoyed eating there on a warmer day. The interior felt like a casual diner, with a few decorations, books, and articles in the entrance and a TV playing in the dining area. The service was friendly, and you could tell it was family-run as there were a few kids playing in the back which added to the casual feel that I really enjoyed. The food itself was good, but I went in with really high expectations and was let down just a little. The Sly Fox Benedict was delicious, and the venison sausage was fantastic. The sides were what disappointed, with the home fries being just and the Three Sisters rice being the biggest let down. However, the Cape Cod Cranberry Lemonade I decided to splurge on was nice and refreshing. Overall, the meal was satisfying and I really enjoyed my visit. If I wasn’t moving soon, I’d definitely make a return trip to try out more of the menu.

My partner and I were so looking forward to eating here for a very long time. We finally decided to take a 5 day trip to Rhode Island and this was our first stop. Unfortunately we were both extremely disappointed. I want to start with the good. The Indian fry bread and the desserts were phenomenal. The fry bread was crispy on the outside, fluffy in the middle and savory. The strawberry shortcake that had the fry bread was extremely yummy. It really was the saving grace of this meal. The service - we sent the restaurant a facebook message two weeks prior to arrival asking about wheelchair accessibilty and if we needed reservations and they replied to one message then read and ignored the other. It was slightly annoying but we figured not everyone lives on social media. Our waitress was nice. Though since the establishment is not accessible we had to sit outside and only one table is where a wheelchair can easily get. It was more or less in the parking lot and out of the way. We did not get to see our server often because if this. It also took almost TWO AND A HALF HOURS for us to have our meal. We seriously waited more than 45 minutes for our appetizer alone. The food - A huge letdown. Especially for the price. The steak I ordered was one of their weekly specials. While it looked impressice it was so unevenly and overly cooked (note the extremely black charred spots). I ordered it medium and it was very well done with some spots being burnt to a crisp. I have never seen a steak of that size and caliber taken so far beyond well done that the plate under it was completely dry. Normally I would say something about this but there was no way that steak was sent out without everyone in the kitchen knowing that it had been on the grill far too long. Also, after a two hour wait and seeing the waitress maybe twice, I just wanted to leave. The Three Sisters Rice was unseasoned and bland, the "fresh seasonal vegetables" were canned carrots. Their special mac and cheese was OKAY but so dry. The roast chicken and Cole slaw were good, but not outstanding (not that you expect roasted chicken or Cole slaw to be mind blowing). All in all. I was very dissatisfied. This was an almost $200 meal (including tip) and it feels like there was a massive lack of passion in the kitchen. I was truly hoping this would be a place I would come back to every visit to RI.

We arrived at 10am on a Saturday, there were about 4 tables available to choose from outside. We went inside 1st to see if we Needed to check in 1st... ( No sign of directions) The young girl behind the counter said you can sit down outside I will be right out to help you... She brought out our utensils & menu then asked if we wanted anything to drink... We ordered something To drink while we went over the menu.. About 20 minutes later she came back to the table That is when we ordered our food.... Our food finally arrived at 10:50 AM... Very delicious and big portions.. The surroundings of the tables outside needed a landscaper, many weeds and long grass coming up through some of the picnic tables. They have old coolers up against the shed with greenish standing water. The picnic tables were filled with tree debris & bird poop that I had to wipe off myself. I personally think that they were short of help there because it shouldn't of taken an hour to receive our food. The poor young waitress was running from table to table all by herself. She needs a raise for the work she did all on her own! Would I return? Maybe if they cleaned up outside and get more help for faster service. Was the food good? Yes, but took way to long, and if you sit outside....Bring bugspray!!

This place is a hidden gem. Stopped by for lunch, on Saturday, just before closing and we were greeted with a welcoming smile and an open door. The menu is extensive and unique making it difficult to decide what to choose. Because it was cold outside, both my friend and I settled on the succotash soup and half sandwich. OMG...never had soup so good and nutritious.Sherry, the cook, adds kale to the recipe, making an already heathy soup even more so. There was just the right amount of spices. So, so good!!! Your tongue will slap your brains out. I ordered another bowl to take home. The half sandwich was closer to a full size as the chicken salad, w/cranberries filled it to the brim. The same for the chunky turkey BLT that my friend ordered. Now that I have discovered this place, I want to spread the word. I wish them much success. Will be returning soon to try out the other dishes.

I’m perplexed by all the 5-star reviews. I can only think that they must be short-staffed. My husband and I started out at the Hungry Haven but we were told there would be a 45 minute wait so we thought we would try Sky Fox Den based on the reviews. The two young women we saw upon entering were absolutely miserable. Not a smile to be found on any worker. We sat down and had to ask for coffee. We had to ask for utensils. We had to ask for menus. There were 14 people inside and a table of 5 outside. The food took one full hour to come out. A full hour for breakfast food. It was so bad that all of the patrons seated were talking to each other about the long wait. I ordered French toast and had to ask for maple syrup. See picture attached. This French toast was NOT worth waiting one hour for. We will never go back again.

Underwhelming for a James Beard award-winning establishment. Some food was delicious (the fry bread, the venison, the striped bass special, and the Indian pudding), but the majority of it all was disappointing. The vegetables could’ve been cooked at home: nothing make me think they were special or locally-grown and cooked. The venison portion was very small, but the striped bass special had plenty (so we shared). The fish was somewhat dry at the top, near the fin. The Indian pudding dessert was very good! Service was somewhat spotty, which was odd because there weren’t many people eating there at 6 pm on a Friday night in the fall. If you’re expecting simple food, you’ll be pleased; if you’re expecting anything else, you’ll be disappointed. We won’t make the trip out to Charlestown again just for Sly Fox Den Too. 😢
